Someone mentioned that you can no longer get re entry permits (TM8 i think) at the airport and have to go to immigration, anyone know if this is true?

There have been no changes just some misinformation you heard. You can get a re-entry permit at both airports in Bangkok 24 hours a day.

if you can find the relevant desk - which is easier said than done at BKK (Suvarnabhumi) in my experience at any rate!

Three months ago I was at Suva and made a quick search for that desk. Didn't find it.

Then I went to the airport info desk, which is easy to find, and asked. No problem.
