Crime Woman’s Receives Electric Shock Inside Police Station While Charging Phone

A young woman received a electric shock and collapsed in full view of police officers and reporters at Phra Samut Chedi Police Station in the early hours of the morning of 14 May, after plugging in her phone charger at the public service area. The incident occurred at around 04:30 as Police Sub-Lieutenant Weera Wutthisiri was taking a statement from Mr Patiphat 22, who had earlier reported being shot at by a group of youths near the old pier in Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan. While officers and several journalists were present, Mr Patiphat’s friend, Ms Yatika, 23, was waiting in the public seating area of the station. She plugged her mobile phone, using a two-metre charging cable, into a wall socket to charge the device. According to eyewitnesses, shortly after plugging in her phone, Ms Yatika cried out suddenly, before collapsing backward off the chair and convulsing on the ground. Officers, Mr Patiphat, and nearby reporters rushed to assist. A mobile phone charger cable was found lying beside her body, still connected to the wall socket. It was immediately removed and basic first aid was administered while emergency services were contacted. Ms Yatika was later transported to a nearby hospital. At the hospital, she was reportedly disoriented and had difficulty responding to questions. Medical staff observed blistering injuries on the back of her right hand, consistent with electrical burns. Mr Patiphat, recounting the events, stated that he and a friend had been attacked and shot at around 02:30, prompting him to report the assault to police. Ms Yatika had arrived later to support him during the legal process. While he was giving his statement, she attempted to charge her phone before the incident occurred. He said he had no idea where she had bought the charger or how it could have caused an electric shock. Investigations are ongoing into whether the charger, electrical outlet, or other factors were responsible for the incident. Police officials have not commented on the safety of the station’s electrical facilities, but the incident has raised concerns over equipment standards and public safety at official premises. Crime Drug-Addicted Son Arrested After Cutting Motorbike Brakes in Attempt to Harm Parents

Police in Buriram province have arrested a 29-year-old man accused of repeatedly terrorising his elderly parents, culminating in an alleged attempt to cause them fatal harm by cutting the brake cables on their motorbike. Officers from Non Suwan Police Station were called to investigate after the elderly couple, residents of Non Suwan District, sought urgent assistance. They reported that their son, Mr Manatchai, had been violently unstable due to ongoing drug addiction. According to the parents, he routinely destroyed property, threatened them for money, and became violent when refused. In a deeply troubling revelation, the parents stated, their son deliberately cut the brake lines on the motorcycle they used daily, in what they believe was a calculated attempt to cause a fatal accident. The man is also alleged to have a history of severe domestic abuse. In 2023, while his niece was still a secondary school student, he reportedly assaulted her so badly that she suffered a swollen spleen and bruised kidneys. Although she was hospitalised for a time, long-term complications contributed to her death in late April 2025. He is also said to have carried knives, secretly manufactured firearms in his parents’ home and threatened anyone who confronted him. Police moved to arrest Mr Manatchai and initial urine testing confirmed the presence of narcotics in his system. He confessed to drug use but denied harming his parents or tampering with their vehicle. He did, however, admit to the previous assault on his niece, claiming he had already faced punishment for that offence. He has now been charged with illegal drug use and investigators are gathering further evidence to determine whether additional charges, such as attempted murder or criminal damage, should be filed. When visited at the police station, the suspect’s parents brought food and rice but insisted they would not post bail. “He is still our son,” his mother said, “but we cannot go on living in fear like this. It’s been over ten years of violence and threats. He never changes.” The family expressed relief at the arrest, noting their advanced age and the years of suffering they have endured.
