I overstayed my previous visa, so last week I flew to Cambodia. I obtained a new tourist visa and by a miracle I am back in Thailand. Now I have 60 days to get a new visa. My plan was to get an ED visa (I really do want to study Thai), but I read there are some problems with the ED visa. I am planning to get married to a Thai soon. Is it better to get the ED visa now or register our marriage and get a non O visa?

You have 90 days to get another visa because you can extend your 60 day entry for 30 days at immigration.

If you can meet the financial requirements of 400K baht in a Thai bank or 40k baht income to get a one year extension of stay (not a visa) based upon marriage that would be a much better choice than the ED visa/extension. You could still attend Thai language classes if you wanted to.

You could also get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage that would give you 90 day entries for a year.

Up to you.

The ED-visa is only temporary, but gives you more time to get married. If you both are sure and have enough time to arrange it, you can go directly for the non-O based on marriage.

Sorry, I am not completely clued up on the visa. I only got a single entry in Cambodia, that means I have 60 days and not 90 days right? Thank you for the advice.

You can extend the 60 days for an additional 30 days at immigration giving a total stay of 90 days. Cost is 1900 baht.
