Rimmer
Developers face charges as police investigate whether condo tower encroached public land PATTAYA:--Pattaya officials have filed charges against the developers of a 53-story condominium obstructing the view of the Pattaya beachfront and asked crime suppression officers to investigate whether the tower’s environmental inspection was done properly. At an Aug. 25 meeting with top Crime Suppression Division officers, Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and Permanent Secretary Pakorn Sukhonchart also raised questions over whether contractors exceeded property boundaries when they laid the foundation for the Waterfront Suites and Residence at Bali Hai Pier. The project, also set to include an Accor Hotels-managed resort, is backed by the Tulip Group. Managed by Bali Hai Co., the project sparked an Internet firestorm after photos showing the tower blocking the view of Pattaya Bay from Pratamnak Hill were published online. Critics also complained it obscures the Prince Chumphon Khet Udomsak statue at the top of the hill, which is supposed to be the highest landmark in the area. Pattaya filed charges this week against Bali Hai Co. for violating a stop-work order issued July 16 after investigators determined that construction contractor Thai-Thai Engineering had deviated from approved plans for elevator shafts and fire escapes. The city also filed charges against the company over those deviations. - See more at: http://www.pattayamail.com/localnews/developers-face-charges-as-police-investigate-whether-condo-tower-encroached-public-land-40703#sthash.ZFwESUfC.dpuf -- Pattaya Mail 2014-08-
