Non B Visa after changing company

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

There might have the same topic in this forum but unable to find it.

Here is the summary : I just resigned from my actual company because I get a new job. My last day of work is September 3rd and my actual company cancelled my visa with effective date on the 3rd.

The new company told me that it should have been cancelled on the 1st to be able to transfer work permit to the new company without flying out but as it is cancel on the 3rd I have to fly out on the same day and then re-enter with a new Non B.

Apparently, I need a letter from the labor department as well, document that is long to get and can be request only when I am out of the country. So it means that I will have to stay outside the country until I get this document (a week to 10 days).

My questions are the following :

1. Can someone explain me why by cancelling my visa on the 3rd (Wednesday) I have to fly out and if I cancelled it on the 1st (Monday) it is fine ?

2. Is there any way to get the Non B without the letter from labor department ?

3. Is there a country where it is easier to get it done ?

4. Can I ask my new company to pay the expenses of this "trip"

5. Any kind of information are welcome...

Thanks a lot

You can apply for a 7 day extension, pay 1900 baht and be given 7 days to leave the country when your extension is cancelled.

Dear Ubonjoe,

Thanks for this. Should I apply this extension at One Stop Service ? Do it by myself or through my company (old or new) ?

If the one stop is where you got your extension that is where you need to go. You will need the letter canceling your extension from your employer,

You may not need to pay for the 7 days at the one stop. There have been reports that they give you the 7 days when your extension is canceled.

The things is that I did not get any extension yet. I am still working in the old company until the 3rd. So if I well understand I can ask first extension from this date ?

But the problem remain the same for the labor department letter : I need to be out to request it.

Basically what I would like is avoid to fly out or if really have to, shorten the stay outside Thailand.

Thanks again for those clarification,

Are you on a 90 day entry from an non-b visa you obtained from an embassy or consulate that you have not extended yet?

If this is the case your visa is will still be valid.

You do not heed to be out of the country for the work permit to be applied for. They can use a WP1 to apply for your work permit.

I originally get my Non B in Vientiane when I started work here in Thailand. It was in March 2013. Since that date I went out for holidays only once in April 2014 and they just made my 90 days notification last month. Next should be in October.

I finally get an answer. I just need to go to the One Stop Service the day when I stop work with my old company to make a new WP the same day. So basically my last day is 3rd but I will not show up and go to One Stop Service instead to proceed to new WP.

Do I need to show my old WP or just a copy will be fine ?
