OP,

Are you in a situation where, due to language limitations, your primary and perhaps only source of information is your wife? She and her son appear to be acting in a manner I am familiar with in Thailand, namely to pretend a stigmatised medical condition does not exist. It may well be that the son is HIV positive and the infection is progressing due to non-treatment. It may well be that everyone in the locale knows this but they don't want to tell you and couldn't any way because of the language difficulties.

Is there anyone other than your wife who can give you information?

Has your wife's son a history of drug use?

Has he been in prison?

Try to find somebody to help you particularly so if you cannot speak Thai or the local dialect.

AOA,

Yes but I want actual specific annual Thailand #s like the World Health report gives. Because the range is so broad and studies have shown % not to be significantly effective. That is why the US does not support/recommend HBG as a general vaccination only if specific criteria is met and mostly in treatment (after exposure occurred or high risk exposure) vs prevention (like a flu or tetanus shot)...

As has been explined the vaccine does not prevent coming into contact with the TB bacilli. It reduces the frequency with which that will lead to extrapulmonary TB, mainly a risk for children.

please stay on topic. The thread is not about the BCG vaccine.
