BANGKOK: -- A vocational student was shot dead by a gunman in Bangkapi area, Bangkok Metropolis, this morning.

The victim, 21-year old Patchara Kampalasiri, a first-year student of Bangkok Technology University, was shot three times on the face and three times on his left hand. He died instantly at the scene in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 107 in front of Asakarn Place building.

Pol Col Pornchai Kachornklin, deputy commander of 4th division of Metropolitan Police Bureau, said that the victim was a former student of Bangkok Industrial Technology College before he enrolled at Bangkok Technology University.

He said that Patchara used the same route to go to the university and today as the victim was walking in the soi on his way to the university, the pillion rider of a waiting motorcycle parked opposite the Asakarn Place building shouted for the victim.

So when the victim turned toward the pillion rider at the call, the pillion rider opened fire from his pistol before escaping in the waiting motorbike.

The police officer said that Patchara had not engaged in any scuffle with any rival students lately. However, he added that police would check all the CCTV in the vicinity of the crime scene to try to identify the suspected gunman and his supporter.

RIP!

Another vocational student dead from a shooting. I would guess that the one pulling the trigger came from his old college, it's my first thought because of all of the fighting that's been going on between different vocational colleges in Bangkok!

Thank you Dr Watson, the case is now half solved, just need to confirm motive and identify gunman.

And so another young life ends for nothing. When/if they find the coward shooter I hope they send him to meet the victim to explain how he became a shit head with a gun............coffee1.gif

I used to live very close to there a long time ago. I remember coming across a mass brawl on more than one occasion.

One time I was on the back of a motorbike taxi. The driver sort of froze in fear. I had to jog him out of it to get him going.

3 shots fired through his left hand into his face?

Speakee/readee English? It said nothing of the sort.

Oh Sir, please sir let me answer. I read 3 in the face and 3 in the left hand, possibly the latter coming after taking 3 in the face and putting the hand up to the injuries.

No sir my name's not Watson sir.

Seems like some kind of .................................<pause>...................................ritual?

"..........was shot three times on the face and three times on his left hand."

Six shots. Some folks have comprehension and reading difficulties DrLom.

I see his point as the student may have taken a defensive posture with his hand in front of his face when he saw the gun being aimed at his head and fired through his hand.

That would indicate 6 shots through the hand to the face, would it not? whistling.gif

As you know how articles can go it may be assuming 6 shots but may not have been 6 shots fired but 3 creating 6 wounds as it passed through his hand into his face. Seems odd to get 3 shots for a small area like a hand separately from the face shots.

Hum... must have been a very accurate shooter to hit a hand 3 times in the first place, as a shot to the face once would cause falling and a defensive hand not being in quite the correct position?... Just saying, like. ;)

Nonetheless a reasonable deduction, 3 head shots are enough if you are a shooter in a hurry. If you have ever had a weapon pointed at your face, you know it. My sincere condolences to the parents of the victim. Nothing is worse.

*Deleted quote edited out*

The technical colleges are mainly used by the lower end of the social scale.

Students start studying at them at around 16, so instead of finishing high school and then going to a university, they leave school after completing M3 and go directly to one of these vocational colleges where they mainly study hands on type of trades.

Young, not so bright, chips on shoulders, lower levels of Thai society, add some salt and pepper and give it a good mix.
