My bike is finished (and modified again/finished again/modifed again/finished again/modified again)and will be back on the road as a scrambler for Baen Sean Bike week. After that it will come apart again for a frame stretch/solo seat and rigid frame for Burapha Bike week. It is called a hobby. And? It has been built 3 times since I have owned it so it is hardly unfinished (infact it could easily be put back together in its last configuration). I was over it as it not a "riders" bike. Now that I have the Yamaha Bolt coming I have decided to renew my tinkering on it. Is that ok you and the old guy ? You're right there but you will still be paying for the import tax. Maybe better to say that a grey market car is one not assembled in Thailand and one that the buyer will pay the import tax. If cars are close to stateside pricing, all the folks driving bmw and mercedes on the streets will be in a lambo or ferrari and you my man will be in a brand spanking new Mustang Shelby GT500! Bangkok would be the supercar capital of Asia. An example is Mercedes, the most popular luxury brand for thais. Mercedes has lost a big share to the grey market, they have also stop servicing grey market imports. The biggest Mercedes grey market dealer is NK Benz, they move hundreds of cars (mostly used though) per month. Again you can go compare the price yourself, grey market is cheaper and yes they are imported and tax legally. There are legit grey market dealers. 300% import tax are just numbers, it is not the final sale price, go check out how much each car cost. Lower end cars such as Honda, Ford, etc the profit margins are less hence nobody imports them in to sell. I agree, support and car parts availability is key. I would not buy from grey market as well, but if it was a special car that I really like I would not hesitate to approach a reputable grey market dealer if its not offered at an official. But again, that does not mean its "unavailable". It just means you prefer to NOT buy it from a grey market and wait for parts when it comes to servicing. Yes, if I have the cash I don't mind buying an "overpriced" car, I'm here permanently I get to enjoy it rest of the my life instead of dreaming about it. Of course if you live at home in Mummy and Daddys tatty house that a set of tyres costs more than then you can buy new and not need to put a 'mua mahi' sticker on the back and actually buy something while at the shopping mall. All the markings had been removed, been blown over but rust was still evident, he says they are going to bare metal restore it. Might be beyond restoration. From the photo it is missing a right front fender and windshield. God knows what else and how much rust there is.
