Office chair

Where can I buy a decent office chair with wheels? It's for home use and I am going to be spending a lot of time parked on it so don't mind going up to few K for decent quality.

Office Depot stuff is crap. I bought a mid-range one which started breaking up in a week.

Thanks in advance.

Getting any office chair from Homepro or similar stores is a complete waste of time. They're all crap, the wheels break, the cushioning goes out of shape, the controls don't work properly - don't waste your time. I've gone through about 4 over the past few years.

So I finally bought a real 'high end' one.

I went for the Herman Miller 'Aeron' model which can be purchased from the following company : http://www.chanintrliving.com/locations

They have a special offer on the chair right now - it's only about 40k Baht, I paid 45k for mine last year https://aeron.chanintrliving.com/

I ordered it in the Siam Paragon mall store in Bangkok and got them to deliver it to Hua Hin, it arrived on the date I gave them and it's perfect, it's the most comfortable desk type chair I've ever used.

It might seem expensive for a chair but it really is comfortable, comes with a 12 year warranty and they're not known for breaking.

Eveything is adjustable - the arms, tilt, back support, etc. It's heavy duty and good to use for 10 hours or more each day should you want to sit at a desk for that long.

Although not from them (not here when bought) I find Hara very comfortable and long lasting. Agree the 2-4k chairs sold here are made for 40kg ladies. One 6k chair that looked strong used plastic for piston - total junk.

I have the exact same chair. I bought it last year in the US. It cost me ~$650 which is about 20,000 Baht. If you buy that chair, it might be worth looking into buying it online from the US and having it shipped.

Another great feature of the chair is the mesh back. If you lean your back to the back of the chair on a regular office/leather chair and stay like that for a longer period of time, your back can start to get warm / sweaty easy. Same is for the sitting part. The mesh lets the air flow.

The Chanin outfit seems to have a new website address now:

https://www.chanintr.com/products?subCategories.Office=["Office Chairs"]&rooms=["Workspace"]

Their Herman Miller models are even more expensive than the Steelcase U.S. models sold by Modernform TH.

https://store.modernform.co.th/steelcase/ergonomic-chair.html

Both Steelcase and Herman Miller are among the top rated high-end office chair models/brands in the U.S.  High-end meaning they'll last, are made with durable materials and good ergonomic features and adjustments, support farang body weights, and are backed by much longer/better warranties than any Thai market models I've ever seen.

I just purchased a Serta chair from OfficeMate. It was about half off at 9,900 baht (regularly 21,900). I really love the chair, but I have some doubts as to how long it will last. It is very sturdy, excellent support. But I have no experience with the brand. I figure it will be good for at least 3 years, so, worth the price.

I was watching some Thai YouTube channel, some flash guy that doesn’t seem to do anything but desk setups.

He was sponsored by a chair subscription  company, it wasn’t cheap but you got a high end chair delivered to you, such as hernan Miller. I don’t know too much apart from the high yearly fee.

I use a IKEA Markus - it’s a few years old now and im really happy with it, but I know it doesn’t suit all.
