September 6, 201411 yr I am looking form a welder/fabricator to extend a motorcycle suspension linkage. The attached photos show what I need to do. Basically I need to extend a 4mm thick suspension arm by about 2cm and drill an additional hole. Welding needs to be of a high standard, for obvious reasons! I know of the "gate welders" that are everywhere but am hoping for a higher quality of engineering skill for this. I live a couple of Kms south of the city, but no problem to travel anywhere within reason I get this done. All ideas great fully received (except blah blah comments about messing with suspension... Lol)
September 6, 201411 yr Daeng's by the Ricoh sign (red) - away from the intersection at Airport Plaza going opposite direction - away from the airport.....you have to go beyond the Caltex and make a U turn - come back to the Ricoh sign and turn left - they will be on your left - you'll see cars and motorcycles under construction or modification.....big shop + auto accessories......
September 6, 201411 yr Probably better/ safer to get a new piece laser cut and do the whole thing again. Looks pretty simple to make. Is it galvanized ?

September 6, 201411 yr Author Daeng's is some place. I think they can fabricate just about anything there! A great find; thank you. I don't know the name of the guy I spoke to in the fabricating area, but he was very helpful - and good at his job. Very professional. I showed him how I wanted it extending at the end, but he suggested cutting it in half, lengthening it, then reinforcing with a sleeve along the whole length. I Iike his idea a lot better than mine - Welded in multiple places through drilled spots, and very accurately fabricated too. All for 350 Baht, and even painted. Wow! Again, thank you for the heads-up on this place. Now I can get anything I like made-up - and I do come up with lots of plans, lol Picture of extended dog bone attached. Was your conversation in English or Thai? I usually go without my wife....so English - there are a couple of girls there semi-OK.....but as it's automotive it's usually easy to show or demonstrate the needs.....a drawing or diagram - sometimes having a Thai with you can help - IF they understand automotive <> sometimes easier to show someone that DOES at the shop rather than an uncertain 3rd party.....a lot of farangs get custom work done there.....
September 6, 201411 yr Author My conversation was in Thai. I am far from truly fluent, but I arrived with what I thought I wanted (before he showed me a better option for fabrication!) made of cardboard. That made the discussion easier, as did me using my phone dictionary to make sure I knew the nouns for lengthen, drill, fabricate and weld - before I walked through the door.

Good on ya for doing it in Thai. If you ever get to the point that is difficult, you can talk to Dang, his English is good.
