Why Would You Wear This On A Bike?

Featured Replies

In the early hours of Friday Morning, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutum from Pattaya Police Station was called to Soi Umai, Central Pattaya by Khun Samnieng aged 36 and her English husband, Mr. Anthony Ford. They explained to Police that they had just become the victims of an attempted necklace snatch. Unfortunately it’s the usual story. Both were on a motorbike when two men approached the pair on their motorbike. The passenger of the approaching bike reached out and attempted to snatch a 5-Baht weighted gold necklace worth around 55,000 Baht from around the neck of Khun Samnieng. She resisted and managed to keep hold of the now broken chain, however a Gold Buddha Emulate at the end of the chain was stolen. Details of the two suspected thieves have been circulated amongst patrol units who will do their best to catch them and recover the stolen emulate

Hmmm.. Some people lack common sense.. either that or the desire to show off ones wealth is greater than the desire to listen to common sense... :o

I can't for the life of me understand the mentality of these people about wearing their money. The richest men I know in America barely wear a spec of jewelry. Granted, this was a girl also. :o

showing off with gold becomed an element of the thai culture. I've heard of many cases, just like this one, though it seems they don't get it. I don't even like that yellow, fake look-a-like gold anyway...

Well, I'm a girl and I don't show off serious amts of gold. I have found that the truly wealthy people where I live do not wear massive amounts of gold, only the nouveau riche or wannabees that do so. Like my brother-in-law :D

If I could have just 'one baht' for every bloke I have seen with their shirts unbuttoned down to their waists, displaying copious amounts of gold necklaces around their necks hanging down over their chests, trying to pretend that they are twenty years younger than the age in their passports, well, I would be a very rich man. :o

Is that one baht, gold or one baht coin of the realm?
