Phuket International Hospital, will be renamed Bangkok International Hospital Phuket from October 1.

PHUKET: -- The new owners of Bangkok Hospital Group (BHG) are assuring patients not to worry as no changes have been made.

BHG said they will continue with the same staff from Phuket International Hospital (PIH), no one will lose their job and there are no plans to increase fees.

BHG bought Phuket International Hospital (PIH) on August 27 for B3,608 M.

BHG will be the sole owner of PIH from October 1, 2014 and will be renamed Bangkok International Hospital Phuket.

Dr Kongkiet, board director of Bangkok Hospital Group, confirmed that no new policies will be enforced and said the only change is the share holder. The hospital will keep its name, Siriroj, and will be operated by the same CEO and staff.

Dr Kongkiet added that there will be three hospitals that belong to the BHG in Phuket; Phuket Hospital, Siriroj Hospital and Dibuk Hospital. However, Phuket hospital will be the centre for outpatient transfer to both Siriroj and Dibuk.

A nice change would be if they could charge foreigners the same fee as what the local pays.

Does anyone really believe there will be 'no change' to fees ?

Why not? It makes much more sense for them to keep prices as they are and offer choice than to make a second BHP in the same area.

Many, many examples worldwide of companies with second tier brands.

The panic on here about the take over and the conclusion 'they're going to raise the prices' was at least premature. They may change their policy in the future, who knows, but no need to panic about something that nobody can foresee.

The purpose to buy out competition, it to create a monopoly and than charge whatever you want.

I don't have a complete picture of all the available hospitals in Phuket, but from this article it would

appear that the BHG is creating a monopoly.

Once the choice becomes "which one of the BHG hospitals will I go", the prices will go up ...

Here in Pattay, we have the choice of 3 independent hospitals. One from BHG. BHG is rumored

to build another hospital here in the next couple of years. Might be a good stock to buy ...

Glad to know the overpricing, overcharging of medicine and surly nurses will continue. thumbsup.gif

No I absolutely DON'T. They'll bring it line with the mill that is their home base and anyone believing otherwise is deluding themselves.
