Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday convicted a Vietnamese coffee shop owner of pimping out three underage girls to rich men in Phnom Penh in exchange for commission.

Presiding judge Kor Vandy sentenced Nguven Thi Kamseang, 24, to seven years in prison on charges of “aggravated procurement of prostitution” under the Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation.

Nguven was arrested on December 5, 2013.

Lieutenant Colonel Keo Thea, chief of the Municipal Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Unit, said that Nguven was arrested after she brought three Vietnamese girls – one 17 years old and the others both 14 years old – to have sex with her clients at the Lucky Star Hotel in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district.

After Nguyen’s arrest, the three girls were rescued from the hotel, he added.

Neither Nguven nor her lawyer could be reached for comment yesterday.
