Yeah what about the motorbike gangs like the Outlaws in Bangkok? They dont count?

I saw two Hells Angles, riding in Chiang Mai, yesterday. Thailand is basically an easy country for foreign criminals to conduct business. The Thai police have never been accused of being crime fighters.

What were they riding and what Chapter were they from assuming you saw their patches/colors to determine they were HA's??????blink.png

I was only able to see Hells Angles on the patch. They were too far ahead of us and there was a lot of traffic.

Thailand only has it,s self to blame for any ingress of Foreign criminal gangs, or indeed, any Thai criminal gangs.

Here in LOS, it is the money laundering center of the globe, due to a total absence of any credible Police Force or Justice System.

Every thing is made so easy for the criminals, by blinkered and corrupt officials, that just see foreign money, and their slice of the pie.

Thailand always have been, still is, and will be, a haven/paradise for criminals, where else can you live

and operate with impunity, bribe the locals, be it government, police or just anybody, with small

amount of money? live in obscurity with fake credentials, or better yet, marry a local to act as a front

to your dirty deeds? be able to transfer and receive large amounts of money with minimal risk?

only in the land of smiles.... and I know, if I was a criminal, I'd be setting my home here too...

And you forgot to mention enjoying the beautiful weather and delicious Thai food. Paradise on Earth for sure!

If you can't catch the majority of the culprits which are - still - Thai, blame the foreigners and (instead of finding and catching the gangsters) crack down on properly registered companies and decent foreigners with proper work permits, etc. This all is a f\/I<!ng joke!

I think someone has been watching too many episodes of Sons of Anarchy. I wouldn't loose too much sleep over a couple of bikers on holiday

There are loads of bona fide bikies here. I've got hells angels friends who come here from Austria, and they have pretty serious colleagues all through the region. There are also various feeder groups as well... "nobodys fool" and several "nomads" etc... yes it is like sons of anarchy... but real.

Let's do a study on Thai criminal gangs and you can easily add 2 zeroes to that number. But, to keep the peace, lets do it the Argentinian way: blame the foreigners! w00t.gif

At least the Thai gangs are keeping it at home....might be good for Thailand if the Farang gangs did the same.........

Incredible, you are first to point this out.

Everyone else immediately goes in defense Thai bashing mode, and fails to address what this article was actually about.

What this article failed to mention is another element that makes Thailand so appealing to gangs/crooks is the fact that it it only takes a few baht to have the authorities turn a blind eye to their illegal enterprises.

A few years back I met a foreigner who owned a business on Samui and who was desperately trying to sell up and get away from the island.

Like so many places tourists only saw the attractions and didn't get to see the darker side. I hadn't been to Samui for well over a decade so couldn't relate to many of the places he mentioned.

He claimed the place had changed so much from when he first went there and doing business had become more difficult and dangerous as the local mafia controlled everything and did as they wanted with total impunity since the BIB were heavily involved even if it just meant ignoring legitimate complaints and complaining was definitely hazardous to your health.

Previously, there was nobody to complain to. Nobody had any interest in law and order on Samui, for the 40 plus years it has attracted tourists. Now, the Army claims to have an interest. We shall see. This OP is extremely skeptical. Targeting people is one thing. Making real arrests, and making sure that they get convicted is another. Real enforcement is needed, and all arrests, or targeted individuals have to be followed up. That is something the Army has not shown an aptitude for, so far. Let us hope they can improve on their rather poor record, to date.

What about the Singaporean Chinese running illegal football, online gambling and also women trafficking rings here, the Malaysain Chinese Groups involved in credit card fraud and atm fraud, the taiwanese and main chinese involved in call centre scams, the koreans and japanese involved in money laundering scams and also women trafficking and porn production, etc. Why so geared towards the white skinned farangs??? Xenophobic pigs! Waht about Thai criminal gangs starting from corrupted government officials, corrupt police, corrupt justice officials, etc etc etc.

All you stupid farangs out there...get up and start doing something to protect your dignity.

And how do we do that without upsetting someone in power that can have you slung in jail or deported, or worse?

Thailand is exceptionally easy to live in if you have the right visa and the funds to support yourself.

Let stuff like this wash over your head, it's the way it is here.

Another wonderful story designed to build relations between locals and foreigners.

20 gangs hardly seems like a plague in a country of 70 million people and 226 foreigners in Thai prisons sounds like a small %age to me.

This is yet another "blame the foreigners" message sent out to the people to divert attention away from the current and pending economic hardship. To the more naive masses it will incite yet more hatred,,

How long before we all have enough of this rubbish and go somewhere else?

Gee Lobber, I didn't name any bike clubs as foreign criminals. If you are referring to the "Hells Angels," the U.S. Department of Justice, classified them as an organised crime syndicate a long time ago but thanks for asking.

OK but I doubt they are here to commit crimes. Although some of these feeder groups as you call them should be put away for fashion crimes

Sure they come here to holiday, but they are "in it" up to their armpits, and there are plenty of residents. Better to not even ask. You're right about the fashion police...I saw one that was patched "Transient Nomad"... the irony is strong with this one. One would hope that a Nomad is transient! I'm assuming the feeder clubs are all affiliated with the Angels, otherwise it would have been 3rd world war on several occasions down here. A while ago in Phuket it went pear shaped when some HA's tangled with some Bandidos from Oz... great stuff.

Wow Beammeup, what does the "Sons of Anarchy" have to do with the "Hells Angels" motorcycle gang, and why would you think I would loose sleep over that?

I see no mention of the Boiler Room gangs involving well known Americans and Brits who have stolen millions and are currently paying off a police general and an army general, reputedly a million $'US a month. But of course since the victims are foreigners abroad it isn't really a crime.

Dreadful country, dreadful hypocrites.

There indeed is a lot to suggest a disproportionate focus on certain ethnic groups and the total exclusion of Asian groups, who are far great in number, such as Chinese and Malaysian gangs, involved in everything from people trafficking and sex slavery to call centre and card fraud. Why not mention these groups? Perhaps because "white" is an easier target or "white" just a colour they don't like to see? Yes, eradicate the European and Latin American gangs, but if they ignore the bigger problem by far of Asian gangs, then why take them seriously, why not call them racist and ignorant if that is an accurate description?

Of course there's a higher likelihood of Asian gangs outnumbering European/South American ones. Last time I checked, Thailand is in Asia. I'm guessing there is also a higher likelihood of European gangs outnumbering Asian ones in Europe. Same in South America. The question is why travel all the way to Asia from their home turfs in Europe/South America?

I really like how they blame these gangs on their easy entry into thailand. If they even bothered to look the USA and Aus and UK have the same problems in their countries and in greater numbers. Just wait till the triads and yakuza get here.

Sent from my GT-S5310 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

They've been here longer than the rest. Triads have been in Thailand since the 1700's and today they bring a lot of the counterfeit stuff in from China but they have not really been a powerful organisation since the 1950's and are now more into petty crime and some brutal violence. Ah Kong ran the golden triangle from the 70's through to the 90's but they are finished now. Yakuza have been in Bangkok since the 80's, in the past they have been involved in Yaba, extortion, stolen cars and today they are involved in the sex industry.

I don't believe I got that memo or their newsletter.sad.png Have you been googling or wikipedian again???

That memo? Their newsletter? Do try not to dribble online.

Bull guys, don't talk about rumours, too many movies maybe. Triad etc settle.

No rumors, just articles published in the newspapers over the years and well documented historical facts.

TIJ deputy director Natee Jitsawang must be done a reseach that every student in first semester hos professor would have beaten around the ears based on unqualified scientific approach and is bases purely populist reasons.

Sure there are foreing gangs and criminal activists here in Thailand ; and those you find all around the world and has nothing to do with thai immigration rules...

But these gangs can only work while they find their best supporters and accomplices in Thai people!!!!!

So if this is the basic how Thailand tackle the problem I fear for the integrity of the Thai people and the Thai judiciary: or sorry forgot...there isnt any of that existing!

Does Thailand realize how they depend on foreigners living here and visiting Thailand as tourists!

Shame on you Kun Natee Jitsawang and the journalists writing this article without any research on the real facts of the problem!
