I guess the IV drip OP got was an antiviral and not an antibiotic.

No it wasn't!

If you actually read up a little on anti-vitals you'd have seen that thy are at present used in treatment of about 4 or 5 illnesses - inc AIDS and Herpes......(Dengue NOT included) and basically the situation remains unchanged, there are no "cures" for viral infections.

Even the existing rugs are not cures, they suppress the development of viruses
