2nd year ED Visa question

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im currently in my 2nd Year on an Ed Visa, my next 90 day report will be in october and I will finish my 2nd Year in December. With the new regulations Im not sure if I have to go out of the country immediately to get a new Ed Visa or if I can do my 90 day report as usual next month and then get a new Ed Visa in December? I left the country for a few weeks in June and had a Re entry Permit that time, so I havent been staying in thailand for over a year, not sure if this makes a difference.

thanks a lot

According to the new regulation, you will have to leave the country for a new visa, so it would be good if you can obtain the MoE letter from your school before that.

If you are just doing a 90 day report then that means you have gotten a one year extension of stay. Am I correct?

If you are on a one year extension you will have to go out for a new ED visa in December if you are attending a language school. And will then be only getting 90 day extensions instead of one year after that.

A trip out of the country using a re-entry permit does not start a new year.

sorry, I think I got confused with 90 day notification of address and 90 day extension? I got my last extension in July and have to go to Immigration again in October

You will have to go out for a new ED visa. Your school needs to do the paperwork for a visa instead of an extension.

Like me, you will need to leave the country before your next extension is due, get in touch with your school and make sure you leave with a few days in advance to give yourself a buffer in case of any problems that may arise. I am on my 3rd year and my first extension is on Halloween, so I am heading out to Laos on the 20th
