Low cost airlines face a problem at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Low-cost airlines operators indicated they are encountering with a different airport check-in system at Suwannaphoom International Airport which could cost them 700 million baht more to adjust to the new operation as they fear passengers will have to bear the brunt of rising cost.

However, Transport Ministry said has already instructed Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) to look into the matter.

President of One-Two-Go and Orient Thai Airlines Company Plc, Udom Tantiprasongchai (อุดม ตันติประสงค์ชัย), disclosed that the system the low-cost airlines operated at Don Muang airport is partially manual, and it will need to be converted in order to match two other components of the check-in system, which include conveyor belts and bomb detectors.

He added that in order to change to the new system, the low-cost airlines will need to increase its check-in fee from 60 to 100 baht per passenger as he is worried that it would trouble passengers.
