September 16, 201411 yr Not sure if paint is the answer really. We have a new house in the 2nd year. Now there are many hairline cracks in the outside plaster/render over the brick walls. The bricks were not well laid with incomplete mortar in parts. So, when the rain hammers down it soaks through in places to the inside walls. Some bits of render have been gone over but can't really do it all. Is there a paint that would keep the water out?

September 16, 201411 yr Just don't ignore that it is 50% the paint and 50% the proper preparation and application.
September 16, 201411 yr I'd suggest that before you apply paint, apply a proper concrete sealer that will properly resist moisture and is designed specifically for sealing concrete walls and floors. Apply a good quality water based paint over that if you wish, but technically paint won't be necessary if all you want to achieve is waterproofing. However, if you have serious cracking it would be as well to fill these with an appropriate product, seal using a concrete sealer, and then paint.
September 16, 201411 yr Author got the men here now filling in cracks but do not have a lot of faith as they were the people who built it in the first place, thanks for advice
September 17, 201411 yr Wouldn't worry too much Jacky, cracks are pretty much normal in Thailand once a house has settled.
