short time medication for allergy

Featured Replies

I just did again some repair work on the bird nest farm of my wife.

Problem is the small birds shit a lot and the air is full with excrement dust. I am wearing now a Gas mask inside, but that dust goes everywhere, also into the living area, specially since we had a problem with the water and water mixed with excrements flooded us there.

After 12 hours I get itching nose and eyes that I would cut my head off to stop it.

First question:

Is it an allergy or is it maybe a normal responds to an air loaded with excrements, viruses and bacterias? It feels like the pollen allergy I had in Europe.

If I take some medication against allergy (it is just for a few days, once a month or once every 2 month) do I risk to weaken my immune defense in this very challenging environment? (And getting instead of an itching nose some serious infection)?

Which medication shall I take?

thx....

It sounds like allergy.

Taking antihistamines will not weaken your immune system. Some will make you sleepy, though.

Since the problem is related to a specific activity that you presumably do not do everyday, you need take medication for only a short time (or not at all, if symptoms have already resolved.)

Medications: loratadine comes in inexpensive locally made brands and causes less drowsiness than other meds. Nonetheless, to be safe don't drive after taking. Like any medication, look up contraindications and side effects.

in future if you have to do tasks liek this that you know can cause allergic response could take it beforehand.

Thanks a lot!

Get some telfast 60mg.

Take one morning and one evening

No side affects at all, not sleepy or drowsy.

Cost 120 baht per box, or generic 90 baht

I am taking SULIDINE pills for that kind of allergy and works very well just 10 minutes after my nose start itching and its effects last for 12 hours or more. Sells in any pharmacy over the counter, about 30 thb for 10 pills.....Sometimes times I use NASOL spray too...if the pill alone is not enough..40thb. Get both....No contraindications....
