Staying over 90 days with tourist visa (new visa cond.)

Featured Replies

i booked a flight on 20th november this year and a flight back after 5 months. I applied for a tourist visa with two entries, but the swiss thai embassy just gave me a single entry. The lady there told me that the reason is, that i was 2 months in thailand this year already. (i didn't really get the reason, because her language skills were not that good)

Now my plan is to stay 60 days, extend for another 30 days, and after that im planing to go to cambodia to get an new tourist visa with a single entry, so i can stay again 60 days.

Now i read a lot about the new visa conditions and im not sure if this is still possible? i read on a website that even if i get a new tourist visa in cambodia they maybe not le me get into thailand again?

Does anybody know more about the new visa conditions? Is it possible that i maybe not get to thailand again from cambodia?

Yes, it is possible and there are no problems in doing that.

You can also get a double entry tourist visa in Laos.

And what about the new entry conditions? The last 5 years i did every year 1 visarun and stayed like this 4 months per year in thailand.

And i really just want to go outside of thailand for 1 or 2 days.

Didn't they want to stop the long-term-tourists?

Or is this just a rumour?

There are no new entry conditions for visa holders. You can come back immediately to activate a new visa entry.

They don't want foreigners to use back-to-back tourist visas to work illegally in Thailand. You do not fit that description.

Which Thai consulate in Switzerland was it that refused you the double-entry tourist visa?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

This was the thai embassy in Basel.

I guess the problem was: This year in january i went to an office in pattaya where they gave me a stamp to stay another 4 months without crossing the border.

I paid the office 10000 baht to get that stamp. As i left thailand later, i had absolutely no problems to get out. Maybe this was something illegal?

This office was in the middle of pattaya and looked reliable.

The lady in the embassy told me, that she never had seen such a stamp before and that she's a bit scare to give me another 2 entries... it was a bit weird.

She told me that she even thought about not giving me a visa anymore...

hmmm... i just see this post here in another Thread:

"Also now, as i could read that many people seems to take for granted that if they have, for exemple, a tourist visa, they will be able to enter the territory at suvarnabhumi airport: answer: it will depend:

- If the immigration officer sees that they are few back to back TOURIS VISA (done in an embassy, 2 months plus one month extension possible (I am not talking about many back to back 30 days VISA EXEMPTION stamps which we all know now that the crackdown is effective)), then he can decide not to grant you access to the kingdom, as he will presume that you are not a really a tourist."

When i read this, i exactly fit in that description. lol... If i not get in, im really pissed off... lol

You quoted someone with no authority, as often people here pretend to have.

There a no reports of people with a valid visa being refused entry. No matter if 1 or 10 repeated tourist visa. It is just not happening.

At the present time your plan is doable, but nobody can tell you exactly what rules will be in place next February unless they have a crystal ball! I'd go with your plan and see what happens between now and then. You will have time to develop a new one if things change.

There have been reports of other Embassies tightening up the requirements for issuance of tourist visas for those that have previous history of long or frequent stays in Thailand.

I am certain you got a bogus extension for medical treatment. There have been reports of agents arranging these.

Anytime you pay more than 1900 baht to get an extension it certainly can be questioned as to it's legitimacy.

Just ignore posts like the one you quoted. The OP was angry because his girlfriend got refused entry on a re-entry permit that he was calling a visa and posted rubbish.
