The Election Commission will not resign but will move on with the October election plan

The Election Commission (EC) shrugs off calls for its resignation and moves ahead with its plan to hold the general election in October.

Interim senate speaker Suchon Chaleekrua (สุชน ชาลีเครือ) recently criticized the three poll commissioners of no longer having the legitimacy to stay in the posts.

Commissioner Parinya Nakchatree (ปริญญา นาคฉัตรีย์), however, said Mr. Suchon has just followed where the wind is blowing. Mr. Parinya said Mr. Suchon used to say that Article 8 of the Election Commission Act and Articles 140 and 141 of the constitution guaranteed the right of the EC to continue with its jobs.

He said the poll agency will still be in office to organize the election as it believed that will help end current political problems.
