My retirement visa will expire on 3 October before my return from Spain. Can I get a new stamp from the embassy or do I need to apply for a new one with all the medical, police search, notary stamp etc? I am a Spanish passport holder and 75 years old.

I have been in the same boat as you on two prior occasions and with advice from lopburi3 I obtained a visa to return to Thailand and then upon arrival got a non-immO visa and then extended it when required. Costs a few thousand baht but not difficult.

I believe you have to be present at immigration in Thailand to get an extension based on retirement. Certainly easier than getting police clearances etc in foreign country to get the non-immO there. I even think you can come into Thailand without a visa and get the 30 day on arrival permit to stay and then get the non-immO almost immediately.

Do you mean you have an extension of stay based on retirement issued by Immigrations while you were in Thailand (and a re-entry permit)? If so, it can only be renewed by Immigrations, not at an embassy or consulate.

If you mean you have multi-entry non-imm O-A visa (and no extension of stay), visas cannot be extended or renewed anywhere. Before your permission to stay based on an entry to Thailand using that visa expires, you could apply for an extension of stay, but again, that is only possible if you are in Thailand and you go to Immigrations.

Immigrations does extensions of stay in Thailand. Embassies issue new visas outside Thailand. No one extends visas. You'll probably need to get a non-imm O in Spain and during the last 30 days of your permission to stay once you're back in Thailand go to immigrations for a new extension ... or get a tourist visa, convert it to a non-imm entry at immigrations and then apply for an extension.

If you get a new Non-Imm O (not a non-imm O-A) you don't need a medical or police report. You don't need a non-imm O-A. Just get the extension of stay based on retirement in Thailand after you enter the country on a non-imm O.
