A legal expert believes the Thai Rak Thai and Democrat parties will not be dissolved

A legal expert believes the Constitution Court will decide against dissolving the Thai Rak Thai and Democrat parties.

Banjerd Singkhaneti (บรรเจิด สิงคเนติ), of Thammasat University’s faculty of law, said the court may cite flaws in the inquiries by the Election Commission (EC) as a reason in acquitting the two parties.

Mr. Banjerd said the EC did not interrogate some top politicians alleged of paying small parties to either help their candidates win the April 2 snap election or make the poll invalid. The court may consider that the investigation process was flawed and so decide to lift the cases, he said.

Theerapat Serirangsan (ธีรภัทร เสรีรังสรรค์), dean of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University’s faculty of political science, however, said the two parties should be dissolved as that would clean up Thai politics and solve vote-buying problem.
