webfact
VN’s airport service charges to rise from Oct 1BANGKOK: -- Airport service charges will be increased on Oct 1, leading industry experts to predict that ticket prices will rise, according to Viet Nam News.Service charges will rise from VND60,000 to VND70,000 for international airports (NoiBai, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh, PhuQuoc and Da Nang) and from VND50,000 to VND60,000 for domestic airports such as Phu Cat, Ca Mau, Buon Ma Thuot and Lien Khuong.A fee of US$25 per passenger will also be applied at NoiBai’s newly constructed Terminal 2. Additionally, the charge for freight transport will increase by 10 per cent from $15 to $17 per tonne.Airline representatives were skeptical that the increase in airport service charges would improve airport service quality. Moreover, Vo HuyCuong, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAA), predicted that the additional charges would lead airlines to raise ticket costs. This could discourage passengers from pursuing air travel, airline representatives warned.Passengers already pay three extra charges: a ticket issuance rate of VND50,000, value-added tax of 10 per cent and a passenger service charge ranging from VND110,000-120,000 per ticket. The security check charge for national flights is VND10,000 per domestic passenger, VND20,000 per domestic priority passenger and VND32,000 per international passenger.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/vns-airport-service-charges-rise-oct-1/ -- Thai PBS 2014-09-

johnsjourney
That's less than $10 total for international passengers. And perhaps VAT can be reduced by buying in Thailand.

Ulic
A long, long way to go before the rates Canada's privately run airports are reached.
