I can not for the life of me understand why someone would take on a Thai woman's kids from a previous relationship. Its almost the ultimate insult in my opinion and is akin to what Cuckoos do.

Basically a Cuckoo goes into other birds nest's and moves out their eggs and then replaces them with their own eggs. They sit back and frolick and do nothing while the poor unknowing foster parents put in all the hard work to raise their young.

Its the same with the Thai men in this scenario. They come in and impregnate a girl and then dissappear and in walks Mr Mug Farang and gives the kid a wonderful upbringing that 9 times out of 10 the kid and mother dont appreciate and meanwhile while Mr Farang works his butt off to do so Somchai the taxi driver sits back and thinks of his offspring being sent to Private School while he does nothing!!

No way could I take on a Thai kid in a situation where the father just up and left and the mother is a "professional"...i find it almost repulsive....sorry.

Altough I fully agree, I must say we took the abandoned baby of her brother when the girl was 3 months young. I am retired, thus have hoops of time to learn her whatever is required.

I never expected/planned to raise an other kid, but had 3 great years so far...

But indeed, I don't get it when farangs walk eyes open into the trap of marrying a Thai woman with kids, certainly if these kids are 3+, the chances to ever take control are near zero.

Those who think they will enjoy an easy life got it wrong, hell awaits you.

Girls, I disagree, I know many foreigners who are loved by their step-daughters.

I have three children abandoned with me by their moms, distant relatives, who just didn't want them.

And although I originally had a feeling of being 'used' by my family, have come to love (and I hope be loved) by them all.

Guess I'm the exception....

I married my wife 10 years ago (she's 5 years younger than I am). She had 3 children, ages 10, 13, and 17 at the time. Fast forward to today and they are GREAT kids who would do anything for me! They treat me better than my own biological children. It wasn't so easy in the beginning ....but as with all children you have to invest time, love and Yes ...money....but, for me, its been a great experience and have absolutely NO REGRETS...

Sad to hear all the bad experiences others have had but I just can't relate as said...My kids are doing fantastic! The oldest runs his own shop at Seacon (did it on his own) and the other two are in University and doing well.
