defamation

Im curious, theres much talk about the police being corrupt and useless in the recent murder case, even a published claim of the police torturing witnesses etc, but in the Pattaya forum this is not allowed because petercool claims such talk is defamation. before he became a moderator he was clearly protective of the Pattaya police and claimed to have worked with them in the past. He is clearly working to protect police interests. This is censorship not moderation. As an example on the Pattaya forum we cannot even say that the police attended a jetski scam now without out the post being deleted under the defamation rules, How is that defamation? Its a public act that many witness but now cant be mentioned in the Pattaya forum, and no other moderators considered it defamation in the past, because its not. a draconian and backward step for thaivisa in my view.

edit, a rather patronizing warning: "As a relative new member of the forum we will give you the benefit of the doubt but read the above carefully before starting a similar post. Defamation rules protect you as well as the forum from very real potential criminal or civil charges."

as I say, if this is the case why havent "we" as he calls himself, deleted most of the posts on the subject of police corruption in Ko Tao?

Even though this is the Forum support desk, it is part of the open forum, as such discussion of moderation is not allowed here either:

10) Do not discuss moderation publicly in the open forum; this includes individual actions, and specific or general policies and issues. You may send a PM to a moderator to discuss individual actions or email support (at) thaivisa.com to discuss moderation policy.

It would be best to send your complaints in an email to support as posted above.
