WHICH BANKS FOR FUNDS

Featured Replies

Hi Which banks are not accepted by Thai Immigration for you Retirement Extension funds.

Is there an official list of which banks are accepted and those that are not.

Regards

As far as I know there are not any Thai banks that immigration will not accept for you to have your funds in.

In my humble opinion, Bangkok Bank are the best one here for us Brits (of whom you appear to be one judging from your moniker) since they offer a facility for transferring pension funds paid into a UK current account into a savings account with them here in Thailand via their London branch, as if it was an internal UK BACS or Faster Payments Service transfer. Far cheaper than a normal international SWIFT transfer, and, since you can arrange it online if you have internet banking with your UK bank, no need for a long and expensive phone call to them only to find yourself "serenaded" by the entire suite of Beethoven symphonies from start to finish before you are actually able to speak with a real live human being!

Further info on this facility at http://www.bangkokbank.com/bangkokbank/personalbanking/dailyBanking/TransferingFunds/TransferringIntoThailand/ReceivingFundsfromUK/Pages/ReceivingFundsfromUK.aspx

I can definitely vouch for it on the basis of personal experience. Your Bangkok Bank account is normally credited within 1 working day of your requesting the transfer from your UK bank.
