DASTA traffic ‘master plan’ inches forward

PATTAYA:--The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration is edging closer to submitting a budget request for a “master plan” to bring order to the Pattaya region’s chaotic transportation system.

DASTA Deputy Director Damrong Saengkaweelert and Pattaya project chief Thaweepong Wichaidit met with Pattaya police, Marine Department and city hall officials, as well as representatives from the Pattaya Business & Tourism Association and Thai Hotels Association Eastern Region Sept. 25 to continue work on the master plan.

Consultants from Pisut Technology Co. was in March to draft the master plan over the nine months. The 15 million baht study is aimed at integrating transportation in Pattaya and nine surrounding sub-districts.

"sustainable tourism" and "Pattaya" are opposite ends of the tourism spectrum. And no amount of spin or jingoism will change that perception until real actions that yield measurable outcomes are implemented, without fear or favor.

Don't forget pattaya is where mature trees that provide shade are massacred to make things "tidy".

A traffic masterplan...........isn't a tunnel a part of it?

I thought that construction of that tunnel would have started by now.

THB 15 million for a plan that will never work as long as our men-in-brown can't stay away from the traffic-light-control-panels.

Yesterday.....parked at Central World on the 6th floor of the parking-building.

Left at 3 p.m. and arrived at the pay-booth on Ground level (parking is free) at 5.30 p.m. and then it took me another hour to reach Sukhumvit 73 which is approx. 2.5 km away.

Solve traffic problems......get rid of the traffic.
