Hi I have my money for my retirement extension in the CIMB bank and I have been told that the Immagration do not reconize this as a Thai Bank is this true?

I would ask the bank. They now as they need to issue you a letter from immirgaiton when the time comes to apply for an extension.

But the rules say a bank in Thailand, not a Thai bank. As long as the bank complies with the rules that are imposed upon banks that operate in Thailand it should be OK. Also the money in the account must be available for withdrawl, so no fixed term savings account where you cannot withdraw your money during the agreed term.

Obviously a misunderstanding/rumour.

Founded as an independent bank, its now part of to the Malaysian CIMB group.

But CIMB Thailand is a bank registered under Thai law with a Thai banking license.
