Police are hunting for male Thai teenager suspected of carrying out a vicious knife attack.

PHUKET: -- Police are hunting for male Thai teenager suspected of carrying out a vicious knife attack early on Monday (October 6) that has left a 27-year old man fighting for his life.

The attack took place at 12.30am behind the Royal Phuket City Hotel in Thalad Yai.

The victim, Mr Ekkawit Limpanopat, was rushed to Vachira Hospital and is now in intensive care after emergency treatment for seven stab wounds to his upper body.

According to the victim’s girlfriend, ‘Apple’, the attacker was her ex boyfriend – a 17 year old who was recently released from juvenile detention after serving time on charges of theft.

A staff member at the hotel who witnessed the attack said the suspect fled on a motorbike after the attack in the hotel’s staff car park.

Police investigations have revealed that the suspect had stalked the couple for several days before carrying out the attack.

Police said the suspect faces charges of attempted murder.
