TOT, CAT to be under one holding company

TOT Plc and CAT Telecom Plc have informally agreed on the plan to operate under the same holding company, said TOT's acting president.

Chamras Tantreesukhon said Monday that he and CAT's acting president Phisal Jorphochaudom already agreed at the option that both should operate as the subsidiaries of the same holding company to be set up by their 100 per cent shareholder the Finance Ministry.

"And both will not compete with each other after that. We think that this option is the best as it will slightly affect our employees," Chamras said.

Finally, I was just about getting tired of getting loads of papers for one service

TOT Plc and CAT Telecom Plc have informally agreed on the plan to operate under the same holding company, said TOT's acting president.

Much like the TOT's vaunted IPO which has been going to happen any day now for how many years running? I imagine that these two comapnies will hook up somewhere down the road, but I don't imagine that anybody would lose money betting against a merger happening anytime in the near-term.

Well there goes any hope of competition to improve service.
