jonwilly Posted October 23, 2016 Share Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) 'Care Resort' is the place out at Mae Rim I can say it is a well run resort and 'Medical' retirement facility. I have a 96 year old friend who has lived there for most of this year and I visit most weeks. He is basically happy with the service and facilities and I know he receives good care and attention from the nurses and domestic staff their many of whom I have met and enjoyed a laugh with. Sadly, we never could have kids, although after living among old folks in Chiang Mai, maybe that's a blessing. Anyway, after nearly forty years of paying into a very reputable plan, our U.S. based financial adviser -- a real financial adviser, someone we pay an annual fee and not someone we "met" over the phone trying to sell us a specific investment vehicle, tells us we made a wise decision in purchasing long-term care insurance while we were still very young and continuing to maintain the policy (with a monthly payment that is peanuts, but I suppose you could overlook and let lapse). Anyway, I wish Vivo Bene all the success possible, because their fees are well below the upper limit of our long-term care insurances's policies. I look forward to the day when one of their physicians can tick off the boxes on the forms of my long-term care insurance provider and attestsI can no longer handle a significant number of the requirements of daily living and must be in their care. At that point, I can give up the rigors of posting on ThaiVisa, handling CEC meetings and cleaning out cat boxes. I was checking a year or so ago for a friend and it was around 34k for low level care and around 10k more for high level care. The difference being whether you can wash and dress yourself. The price quoted at the assisted living centers in Chiang Mai usually include three meals/day, although Vivo Bene has a two plans, one with full board and the other with "half board" whatever that is.
