ll2
from the directions you gave, i can confirm this route has no tolls and no problem for bikes. just to give an idea. you can modify it too easily. That's great and very helpful. Thanks a lot. Do you know if the South Outer Ring Road (Rt 9) is open to bikes? That would be the other option around BKK if it is available. Thanks, again. you can go from side roads but really not a pleasant route highway 9. https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir/Pattaya,+Bang+Lamung+District,+Chon+Buri/Kanchanaburi/@13.8651474,101.2262703,9z/data=!4m39!4m38!1m30!1m1!1s0x310295924d31d7e3:0xa97ff301a9bd10ff!2m2!1d100.8770813!2d12.9276082!3m4!1m2!1d100.9962154!2d13.0374966!3s0x3102c74c3e1cce43:0x25108d6e7910312a!3m4!1m2!1d101.0186107!2d13.3690949!3s0x311d35b6592a0843:0xafa8e3d6e29f7082!3m4!1m2!1d101.0029058!2d13.7508967!3s0x311d149878968363:0x9a9daf31a7fb4778!3m4!1m2!1d100.6085383!2d14.1695468!3s0x30e27899a8f62071:0x3c531c8ec28aef52!3m4!1m2!1d99.9374927!2d13.7931221!3s0x30e2e19b288108db:0x8d157747691be702!1m5!1m1!1s0x30e31ad50641d69d:0x4f97bc0e92713e12!2m2!1d99.5328115!2d14.0227797!3e0 dont recommend really. through min buri - pak kret is much more better. traffic is not bad, the bridge is nice and you can visit ko kret. this one is the best route i believe: https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir/Pattaya,+Bang+Lamung+District,+Chon+Buri/Kanchanaburi/@13.8252646,100.559323,11z/data=!4m49!4m48!1m40!1m1!1s0x310295924d31d7e3:0xa97ff301a9bd10ff!2m2!1d100.8770813!2d12.9276082!3m4!1m2!1d100.9962154!2d13.0374966!3s0x3102c74c3e1cce43:0x25108d6e7910312a!3m4!1m2!1d101.0186107!2d13.3690949!3s0x311d35b6592a0843:0xafa8e3d6e29f7082!3m4!1m2!1d101.0029058!2d13.7508967!3s0x311d149878968363:0x9a9daf31a7fb4778!3m4!1m2!1d100.6216016!2d13.8606124!3s0x311d62a9a37edbe7:0xad8690b54e798c5e!3m4!1m2!1d100.5274922!2d13.9046569!3s0x30e2849d1331e7ed:0xc03ebfd290d0de46!3m4!1m2!1d100.4141829!2d13.8742377!3s0x30e290204c06ad97:0xa4fc5282105e2632!3m4!1m2!1d99.9374927!2d13.7931221!3s0x30e2e19b288108db:0x8d157747691be702!1m5!1m1!1s0x30e31ad50641d69d:0x4f97bc0e92713e12!2m2!1d99.5328115!2d14.0227797!3e0 this can be another interesting route though: https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir/Pattaya,+Bang+Lamung+District,+Chon+Buri/Kanchanaburi/@13.8498142,100.2697731,11z/data=!4m49!4m48!1m40!1m1!1s0x310295924d31d7e3:0xa97ff301a9bd10ff!2m2!1d100.8770813!2d12.9276082!3m4!1m2!1d100.9962154!2d13.0374966!3s0x3102c74c3e1cce43:0x25108d6e7910312a!3m4!1m2!1d101.0186107!2d13.3690949!3s0x311d35b6592a0843:0xafa8e3d6e29f7082!3m4!1m2!1d101.0029058!2d13.7508967!3s0x311d149878968363:0x9a9daf31a7fb4778!3m4!1m2!1d100.348608!2d14.028079!3s0x30e28a280ef9747f:0x8ccfeb2b0fbf7a44!3m4!1m2!1d99.9404817!2d14.0117216!3s0x30e2fe5e036e1659:0xc10b2d95426a5106!3m4!1m2!1d99.6410563!2d14.0665435!3s0x30e3098c7ae7b4f9:0xf949293689f071f8!3m4!1m2!1d99.8655248!2d14.0272761!3s0x30e301af72dbc963:0x9e4d6acc063dd675!1m5!1m1!1s0x30e31ad50641d69d:0x4f97bc0e92713e12!2m2!1d99.5328115!2d14.0227797!3e0 happy and safe rides guys! The southern route has very good tarmac and is - especially from Ratchaburi - very nice and scenic. Thanks. I agree 100%. I would like to keep time/distance on "interstate" highways to a minimum. So, can we agree on one of the routes shown in the maps II2 provided: this one is the best route i believe: https://www.google.c...d14.0227797!3e0 this can be another interesting route though: https://www.google.c...d14.0227797!3e0 ? Does anyone coming on the ride have a strong preference? If not, I think I prefer the route in the first map. We can consider coming back via the route suggested by Ninja4me, but if riders want to do Erawan in the morning on Sunday and leave from Erawan at around noon, the added length may be too much for 1 day. I have started checking on places to stay for the night of the 8th in Kan city. The place that everyone recommends only has 1 room available for the night of the 8th. So, I'm still looking. Can I please have an accurate head count of who is coming and if you want to stay with the group at night. Obviously, anyone can stay in a place they select and we can agree on a meeting place/time in the morning. But I will try to find a place in the B800 to B1200 range that has enough rooms to accommodate all that want to stay together. So, please let me know quickly. If you have recommendations of places to stay in Kanchanaburi, please make them now. There are plenty of places to stay, but finding a good one with 4 or more rooms available is not so easy. Thanks,
Ozgur
I will need a room. I ll probably go with my wife. The route doesnt matter for me. However I live by Suvarnabhumi Airport at BangNa Trad km 14. Where can I meet you guys? Is there any possibility you pass by Bangna Trad and head north on either King Keaw or Srinakarinda Rd? That's great and very helpful. Thanks a lot. Do you know if the South Outer Ring Road (Rt 9) is open to bikes? That would be the other option around BKK if it is available. Thanks, again. you can go from side roads but really not a pleasant route highway 9. https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir/Pattaya,+Bang+Lamung+District,+Chon+Buri/Kanchanaburi/@13.8651474,101.2262703,9z/data=!4m39!4m38!1m30!1m1!1s0x310295924d31d7e3:0xa97ff301a9bd10ff!2m2!1d100.8770813!2d12.9276082!3m4!1m2!1d100.9962154!2d13.0374966!3s0x3102c74c3e1cce43:0x25108d6e7910312a!3m4!1m2!1d101.0186107!2d13.3690949!3s0x311d35b6592a0843:0xafa8e3d6e29f7082!3m4!1m2!1d101.0029058!2d13.7508967!3s0x311d149878968363:0x9a9daf31a7fb4778!3m4!1m2!1d100.6085383!2d14.1695468!3s0x30e27899a8f62071:0x3c531c8ec28aef52!3m4!1m2!1d99.9374927!2d13.7931221!3s0x30e2e19b288108db:0x8d157747691be702!1m5!1m1!1s0x30e31ad50641d69d:0x4f97bc0e92713e12!2m2!1d99.5328115!2d14.0227797!3e0 dont recommend really. through min buri - pak kret is much more better. traffic is not bad, the bridge is nice and you can visit ko kret. this one is the best route i believe: https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir/Pattaya,+Bang+Lamung+District,+Chon+Buri/Kanchanaburi/@13.8252646,100.559323,11z/data=!4m49!4m48!1m40!1m1!1s0x310295924d31d7e3:0xa97ff301a9bd10ff!2m2!1d100.8770813!2d12.9276082!3m4!1m2!1d100.9962154!2d13.0374966!3s0x3102c74c3e1cce43:0x25108d6e7910312a!3m4!1m2!1d101.0186107!2d13.3690949!3s0x311d35b6592a0843:0xafa8e3d6e29f7082!3m4!1m2!1d101.0029058!2d13.7508967!3s0x311d149878968363:0x9a9daf31a7fb4778!3m4!1m2!1d100.6216016!2d13.8606124!3s0x311d62a9a37edbe7:0xad8690b54e798c5e!3m4!1m2!1d100.5274922!2d13.9046569!3s0x30e2849d1331e7ed:0xc03ebfd290d0de46!3m4!1m2!1d100.4141829!2d13.8742377!3s0x30e290204c06ad97:0xa4fc5282105e2632!3m4!1m2!1d99.9374927!2d13.7931221!3s0x30e2e19b288108db:0x8d157747691be702!1m5!1m1!1s0x30e31ad50641d69d:0x4f97bc0e92713e12!2m2!1d99.5328115!2d14.0227797!3e0 this can be another interesting route though: https://www.google.co.th/maps/dir/Pattaya,+Bang+Lamung+District,+Chon+Buri/Kanchanaburi/@13.8498142,100.2697731,11z/data=!4m49!4m48!1m40!1m1!1s0x310295924d31d7e3:0xa97ff301a9bd10ff!2m2!1d100.8770813!2d12.9276082!3m4!1m2!1d100.9962154!2d13.0374966!3s0x3102c74c3e1cce43:0x25108d6e7910312a!3m4!1m2!1d101.0186107!2d13.3690949!3s0x311d35b6592a0843:0xafa8e3d6e29f7082!3m4!1m2!1d101.0029058!2d13.7508967!3s0x311d149878968363:0x9a9daf31a7fb4778!3m4!1m2!1d100.348608!2d14.028079!3s0x30e28a280ef9747f:0x8ccfeb2b0fbf7a44!3m4!1m2!1d99.9404817!2d14.0117216!3s0x30e2fe5e036e1659:0xc10b2d95426a5106!3m4!1m2!1d99.6410563!2d14.0665435!3s0x30e3098c7ae7b4f9:0xf949293689f071f8!3m4!1m2!1d99.8655248!2d14.0272761!3s0x30e301af72dbc963:0x9e4d6acc063dd675!1m5!1m1!1s0x30e31ad50641d69d:0x4f97bc0e92713e12!2m2!1d99.5328115!2d14.0227797!3e0 happy and safe rides guys! I normally take the third of those routes through Pak Kret, Bang Len etc on the 346. It's not bad, the road is a bit rough in stretches but there's not too much traffic and you can get there pretty quickly if you want to... Thailaw
Has interest in this ride fizzled???? No one has responded to my question about riders needing/wanting a room except Ozgar. Someone has suggested that I am putting the top box before the motorbike, and the route should have been nailed down before asking for room commitments. I am sorry if that is the case. I thought I made a pretty clear route proposal, but perhaps it got lost in the trees. The route is as provided by II2 in his Google map: https://www.google.c...d14.0227797!3e0 Any one interested can look at it. Anyone interested in joining along the way, I assure you that we will identify relatively convenient meeting locations/times along the route, which will obviously depend on where you are coming from. The ride will depart on the 8th at around 9:00 am and return on the 9th leaving Erawan Falls at about 12:00 noon, and we should be back in Pattaya by about 5:45. We should arrive in Kan between 2 and 3 in the afternoon. I believe that Ozgur and I are definite riders. Are others interested in joining this ride? If so, do you need/want a room in Kan city? I will try to make arrangements for rooms for all responding "yes" to both questions early next week. Thanks, Edited October 18, 2014 by Thailaw

I am focusing on guest houses. The best, Tara Guest House, only has one room on the 8th. Anyone wanting to come and stay separately can grab that room. I'll let everyone know what I find. Lots of bikers like the Jolly Frog; not fancy but good people (B400); PY Guest House (B600) is also a good one, as are Good Times, U Dee Rooms & Coffee, and Pong Phen. The ride is a "GO". Thanks to all.

So any of the resorts that you have mentioned are fine with me. The less we pay for accommodation, the more we can spend on dinner!!

My count is now 4 confirmed riders that want rooms -- Ozgur, Gweiloman, Thailandsam and me. After doing some checking, it looks like the Blue Star Guest House is the best choice available. Many people like the Jolly Frog, but the rooms are described as "grungy", so I skipped it. U Dee gets good reviews, but I did not like its set up for parking. Blue Star has rooms with a/c and hot water showers, with place to park the bikes outside the rooms. It gets good reviews and the location is good for getting out in the evening, riding or walking. It has a pool and is also on the river. The rooms are B350 each, but they only have 4 rooms at this price (2 w double bed; 2 w twin beds), so each person will need to confirm and pay quickly once the guesthouse confirms availability and send their account bank and number. Riders with a pillion get first claim to a double room. I will send the information from the guesthouse to each of you in a PM when I get it. You can go to their web site and see the guesthouse and the rooms at www.bluestar-guesthouse.com. If you want to opt for a better room (they have rooms for B550, but they did not seem different than the B350 rooms) or a cheaper room (fan rooms are B200) room feel free to go to the web site and make your own booking. But please let me know so that I can inform them of the change in room number. If any one else wants to join us and stay with the group, I will be happy to add you or you can contact the guesthouse directly. When the rooms are set, we can focus on departure time and meeting place; joining times and places, lunch, departure on Sunday when/where, etc. I propose leaving Kan city at about 8:30 am and heading to Erawan Falls for the morning and heading home at about noon on Sunday. I have sent each person that has requested a room in Kan City a PM. Please check your message box for payment details. We will agree meeting places and times this week. I think that everyone will be riding on Forzas except me. Is that correct? Pease confirm. One more person has expressed interest in joining us. He has a PCX150, and I have asked him to confirm that he can keep up with a 90 kph cruising speed. Thoughts? Look forward to seeing you on the 8th. All 4 riders have confirmed by PM that they are riding and want rooms, so we are fully committed for the rooms I have reserved. Two more riders joined today and want rooms, so I'll work on that with Blue Star as soon as I know what they want and what is available. Four of us will meet in Pattaya at an agreed location -- 8:30 for coffee and depart at 9:00 sharp. We'll pick up Ozgur and Gweiloman on the way. Ozgur and Gweiloman, please tell me where you are located and coming from, so I can identify meeting places and times. We should be in Kan City by 2;30. I suggest we stop at a restaurant on the river that I like before going to the guesthouse. First beer is on me. There should be plenty of time to visit the Death Railway (aka the Thai-Burma Railway) and the Bridge over the River Kwai, which are about 1 km from the guesthouse. Kan City is not a 'hot spot" but there is plenty to see and do for 1 evening. I have a few suggestions. I suggest going to Erwan Falls on Sunday morning (70 km), leaving the guesthouse at about 8:30, get to the falls about 9:15. Leave the falls at 11:30 and get back to Kan City at 12:15 and pick up anyone that did not go to the falls and head back. We can come back the same way we went or try an alternate route -- to be discussed. Thoughts, comments, suggestions are all welcome. I live on Asok Montri / Sukhumvit so you would probably want to skip that part of Bangkok. Once you have decided on the whole route, I will check and advise where I will wait for you guys. OK, the route is set and was given in an earlier post -- east of BKK, north to Minburi and then west to Kan. Here is the Google map again. https://www.google.c...d14.0227797!3e0 Check and see what place on the route looks good to meet -- please be sure that it is identifiable to us and we will figure on an approximate time. We will leave Pattaya at 9:00 sharp and figure 80 kph, with 1 stop to pick up Ozgur. Traffic should not be a problem on our route, at least as far as your meeting point. See you on the 8th. What are you riding? There are 6 confirmed riders, with 3 or 4 more "Interested" but not confirmed. Most will be riding Forzas. Cheers,

Five (or 6) will leave from the 7/11 in Pattaya at 7:30 sharp (I suggest arriving at 7:15 so that everyone is ready to head out at 7:30). Two riders have pillions, the rest, I think, are singles. Please arrive will gas tanks full and rear lights checked and working. We will pick up Ozgur and Gweiloman on 304 north of BKK at separate locations b/t 9:30 and 10:00. I have not looked at their proposed meeting places carefully yet, but I will. Both look to be ok and on our route. I'll fine tune meeting times shortly. We will need to keep on our schedule until be have met Ozgur and G-man; after that we can be more flexible. We should be in Kan City b/t 12;30 and 1:00. I suggest that we stop at a restaurant on the river that I like, before heading to the guesthouse (Blue Star) at about 2:00 (first beer/Coke is on me). I have been checking on night activities for those interested, and a few places look interesting -- more on that to come. I plan on going to Erawan Falls on Sunday morning at about 8:00 -- all are welcome to join. It is 70 km, so figure 1 hour. Two hours at the falls and then head back. We'll pick up anyone that did not come to the falls in Kan City at 12:00 for the return trip to BKK/Pattaya. We should be back in Pattaya by about 6:00. Happy to have a few more riders join us, but you will need to leave from Pattaya and you will need to arrange your own room in Kan City -- too late now for additional co-ordination. Gweiloman, I need to have your mobile number by PM, please. I will circulate contact information for everyone by PM as soon as I hear from G-man. Please bring rain gear. I will not ride in the heavy rain if safety becomes an issue, but we have a schedule and rooms and we need to try to keep to that. Light rain may slow us down, but will not stop us. And, please, ride safely and smart and keep a reasonable distance between bikes and use your signals. And, please, no alcohol until we reach Kan City. I am looking forward to a great trip with a good group of people. Thanks for everyone's patience and help with the route, especially from II2, much appreciated . For those riding, see you on the 8th morning. TL

dave_boo
I'm interested in tagging along...assuming I'm still in the Kingdom then. I'll be on a CB500X with a top box and will find a room in Kanchanaburi. Most likely will have a pillion. I'll meet up with Ozgur at Rom Klao and Ram Inthra. There's a wee petrol station about 80m away from the interchange that would be a good meet up point; I think that's what Ozgur has flagged. Ozgur's map shows a Star Mart, but check with him. In any event, we'll see/find you and Ozgur as long as your bikes are parked visibly. We'll start looking for you as we pass 3119. We're staying at the Blue Star Guesthouse and they may have more rooms. But there are many other place also. People like The Ploy (082 475 3443) and U Dee Rooms & Coffee also. Please send me your mobile number by PM, and I'll add you to the contact list.

Dave, Gweiloman, who I think you know, is meeting us in front of the Mall Ngamwongwan (13.856406, 100.541633) on Rt 302, west of Ozgur's meeting place. So, that is another option for you to hook up with him. The choice is yours, just let us know where you will be,

So, that is another option for you to hook up with him. The choice is yours, just let us know where you will be, I have looked on Google maps, and the distance and time from our departing point (Pattaya 7/11) at 7:30 am on 8th November to the meeting points for Ozgur and Gweiloman are as follows: (1) Save Mart @ 163/39 Thanon Rom Klao (intersection of Rt.3119 and Rt. 304) -- 2 hrs 01 min, 129.4 km. ETA 9:31 am. (2) Front of the Mall Ngamwongwan, Rt. 302 -- 2 hrs 18 min, 155.67 km. ETA 9:59 am (assuming a 10 minute stop at the 1st meeting point). I have assumed that everyone can go to meeting point (2) without a stop for fuel, but if that is wrong, let me know and we will build in 1 fuel stop (+ 10 min) into the schedule. We will refuel at or soon after meeting point (2). Please feel free to comment/make changes if you think any are required. Thanks.
