ED Visa - Application for work permit / Traineeship

Featured Replies

1. Is it possible to apply on a Non-ED (student) already for a work permit (WP1) within TH?

2. Is it possible to undertake on the existing Non-ED (student) a traineeship? If so, what would be the requirements/procedures in order to start?

. I think you can undertake a thaineeship on several websites. Please Google it. facepalm.gif

This was certainly my mistake, no doubt.

Comments about moderation are also not allowed? This was in no way offensive. I was just stating that I used Thai language before answering a post from lostinisaan.

Here in English: You guessed wrong, lostinisaan (regarding especially his pre-edited answers). I do speak Thai and learned it in school.

Can anyone answer those questions?

One of our foreign staff was on an Ed extension while doing a Masters Degree in Thailand. We were able to submit the application for his WP and get the letter enabling him to apply for a Non-B at a nearby consulate while he remained in Thailand.

By the letter of the law, I don't believe there is any provision in the Alien Labour law to allow for trainees or interns whether they are paid or not. What someone may or may not get away with is another matter. I have known of companies that regularly do that but I would think they are taking a risk.

You cannot get a work permit with a ED visa or an extension of stay based upon education.

If you were enrolled in a course of study that included hands on training it is possible to do it without a work permit.

An intern ship must be reported to the labour office or education ministry, can't remember which. But that the school should know.
