Visa Extension and extra stay.

Featured Replies

I am an American citizen. Came to Chiang Mai, Thailand on August 21st, 2014 on a Tourist 60 day visa. Tomorrow (Oct 17th) I am going to the Immigration services to extend my visa for 30 more days. Since I understand that is the limit. I want to stay in Chiang Mai until about Mid-December. I had trouble finding a place that would provide me with the work visa here. What is the best thing to do after I get the extension in order to stay longer? I am never sure what is going on with the law's here. I know people go to Laos but I am not very familiar with that process.

You ca do a simple border hop to Myanmar, in Mae Sai - Tachilek. You will re-enter visa exempt for 30 days and can extended these for 30 more, Bt. 1,900.

Hi I have a follow up question with the visa extension. When you get the extension, will you get 30 days added to the end of your current visa, or is it 30 days from the day you get the extension?

As in if I'm currently 17 days into my visa and I apply for an extension, will I get 47 days (30 added to my 17 days currently in Thailand) or still 60 days (30 added to the end of my current 30 days visa) in total?

Extensions are added the end of allowed current stay.

Thank you!
