PM Prayut holds talks with Hun Sen at ASEM summit

It seems Gen. Prayut is missing out on the opportunity to speak with other constitutional monarchies to learn more about how they handle democracy without military coups, maintain stable economies, provide for higher education, etc. Of course the reverse is also true as those other constitutional monarchies need to learn more about how military coups can improve their own societies (LOL).

Well, PM Prayut probably asked his Italian hosts for details on how they finally got rid of Silvio Berlusconi and how they think to prevent such power abusing billionair to slip through again.

BTW how does one speak with 'constitutional monarchies', especially when in Italy only?

Berlusconi is still the most powerful man in Italy

Putin went to his house around 1 am and stayed until 4 am....

That's a nice reply in a topic where people condemn the duo Prayut / Hun Sen. Anyway the quote below explains why Pres. Putin had to go see the 77 year old Silvio if he wanted to see him at all.

BTW

2014-05-09

"(NEWSER) – Silvio Berlusconi headed to a hospice today ... to begin his community service for tax fraud. The former Italian prime minister was initially handed a four-year jail sentence, but it was dropped to a one-year term—now to be spent working one day a week with Alzheimer's patients. Berlusconi, who says he spent 10 days reading up on the disease, chose community service over house arrest, theBBC reports, a move that will still allow him to lead his Forza Italia party in upcoming elections. He also has a nightly curfew."

Hun Sen and Abe are the only ones who took a meeting so far.

Never hurts to have a look around before making declarative statements... that are erroneous. wink.png

The two most powerful Asian countries are China and Japan. The Thai PM met with both. wink.png

MILAN, Italy, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his Thai counterpart, Prayuth Chan-ocha,

Well the opportunity was there. The 'E' in the title of the gathering should give you a hint, Italy was the host country sure, but........................coffee1.gif

Let me repeat "how does one speak with constitutional monarchies' which tend to be institutes rather than people.

Of course there may have neen ad-hoc meetings during the EC-Asia gathering, but most of the European leaders will have been more concerned with the week long drop in the stock exchanges, the Russia-Ukrain talks, Ebola, to name a few. I'm afraid that Asia and Thailand are a wee bit off the radar.

Thailand as constitutional monerchy is listed under subgroup "executive monarchies'. It would seem you suggest PM Prayut might have had a talk with the representatives of Monaco or Liechtenstein, assuming they were present?

Now as for the PM Prayut / Hun Sen talks, more end of the month when they meet again in Cambodia,

To all those cynics who say "Typical of a Thai bumpkin. Get the chance of a lifetime to meet 50 world leaders, yet prefer to hide himself in the Asian ghetto", ....

.... in his defence, I only add that the General has stated that he will be PM for 1 more year only, then step down, so he has no need to meet nor socialise with Western leaders (who won't understand the Thai way anyway).

Yes, but most people know that the general is going to take part in an election, competing against Thaksin at some point in time. And if the general does win this future election, then, he will meet and socialise with the Western leaders.

They've all got interpreters, so no need to speak other peoples' languages.
