I just thought I would share an interesting experience when I arrived in Thailand on the 29th August WITH A MULTIPLE NON O VISA. the fee (200 USD) is clearly included in the visa sticker in my passport.

Immigration at the airport asked me for a receipt for the fee paid for the visa. I told them that the fee is actually written on the visa in the passport.

I then had to see a higher ranked officer who asked me the same question and I gave him the same answers.

Then they took me to an office, where I had to see a higher ranked officer again. At least this one spoke English and finally (after 45 minutes) let me go.

conclusion: it might be wise, to ask the embassy in your home country for a receipt.

(I have communicated this to the Royal Thai consulate in Miami, where I obtained my visa)

I think they may of though it was a fake stamp or sticker. That is the only reason they would of ever asked for a receipt.

Is it a stamp or a sticker?

Hmm, I suspect that it would probably be a good idea for those of us living on annual retirement, marriage, etc extensions of stay here in Thailand to take our latest Immigration extension of stay and re-entry permit receipts with us on our foreign travels, in case we are challenged in a similar manner to the OP upon our return. Certainly that is something I now plan to do in the light of this thread.

it would probably not happen for an extension of stay because they can verify it with a check of their computer. If there was a problem it would probably come up when you left the country.

They have no way to verify a visa other than the appearance of it or the person holding it having a receipt.

Just so you know what an extension of stay receipt looks like I am attaching one!

OP has a visa, not extension of stay.

Poster number 4 in this thread said "to take our latest Immigration extension of stay and re-entry permit receipts with us on our foreign travels"!

I'm not aware of any case where someone has been asked for a receipt for extensions or re-entry permit issued by immigration. These are accessible on-line all the time.

I was asked onced for receipt and I kept everything stabled at end of passport when immigration officer found what he wanted he also have time to remove unwanted receipt for me. My passport have a collection of receipts stable at back even 90 reports and yearly extensions I know its not good to mess another countries passport atleast helps in my case

it is a sticker (for the first time Miami gave me a sticker rather than a stamp as in the past).

anyway, no big deal, was just a bit annoying and my taxi driver had to wait)
