2 months jail/visa

Featured Replies

Two months ago my mate served two months in a Thai jail for 6g of ganja. Now he's living in Cambodia and needs to do a visa run. He has a visa stamp in his passport that says 'possession of ganja' in Thai. Do you think the immigration officials will let him in the country?

It's hardly the crime of the century, was he deported and blacklisted ?

If there's a stamp in his passport I'm guessing that he was deported, get the stamp translated or uploaded and find out for sure.

Contact the forum sponsor on this page, they can find if he has been banned from the country.

UJ has said that in the past, but there are many forum sponsors of this page. Can you be more specific as to which one can/will do the check?

This sponsor has posted they can check for blacklisting and outstanding warrants. http://www.thaivisaservice.com/

Why would anyone keep just a passport.

He should go to his embassy and get a new passport. But maybe not possible for all countries.

It appears you are suggesting he get a new passport.

Immigration has a data base. All they have to do is name and date of birth search and they will see everything to do with his old passport. Getting a new passport is no help at all.

if he is living in Cambodia why not just change it to a B visa an than extend for a year?

ur supposed to leave if ur on a tourist visa but have heard for a few $$ it can be changed

and even if not, he could easily go to Vietnam ( closer but road to Phnom Phen than Thailand)

The thing is though, even if the person isn't banned, its down to the immigration officer at the border who would say yes or no to this one, as although it is a small quantity the person does have a drug conviction it seems
