Photo Marine DeptPHUKET: -- Searchers continue today (October 21) to look for two Korean tourists missing after Sunday’s speedboat crash (October 19).Searchers drew a blank yesterday and suspended operations after the sun went down, but the search for resumed at 7am this morning.Relatives of the two missing people – Mr Go Min Woo, 31, and Ms An Sun Yong, 28 – arrived in Phuket last night to join the search.They were taken out on a boat from Royal Phuket Marina at 10am this morning to visit the area around where the speedboat crashed into a fishing boat, flipped and sank.Meanwhile, the Phuket Tourism and Sports Office has put its Tourist Assistance Centre (TAC) at Surakul Stadium in Phuket Town into top gear to help those injured in the crash.Phuket Tourism and Sport Director Santi Pawai told The Phuket News that the order to make special efforts to help the speedboat passengers came from the Tourism Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Suwat Sittilor.“For those victims who have already been discharged from hospital, if they want to extend their stay in Thailand, we will arrange free tour packages and trips,” Mr Santi said.“So far, we have arranged with airlines for flights for four injured people to be postponed indefinitely at no extra cost, and we have received consular requests to do the same for six other people who were hurt.”Source: http://www.thephuketnews.com/search-resumes-for-two-missing-in-speedboat-crash-49253.php-- Phuket News 2014-10-21 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The bodies of 31-year old You Win-wo and his fiancée, 28-year old Ms An San-yong, were separately plucked from the sunken speed boat, Sea Star 29, at the depth of about 30 metres near an outcrop about six nautical miles from Phi Phii Island.The bodies were then handed over to Kusolatham Phuket Foundation and then taken to VachiraPhuke hospital for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death. Initial findings showed that the two victims suffered head injuries.Families of the two victims who have been in Phuket to follow up the search of the two missing tourists reportedly said that the two victims were lovers and planned to get married soon after their return home from a visit to Thailand.Searches continue for the third missing Korean. They should have had Navy or Police divers on this from day 1.. Feel so sorry for the unsuspecting tourists and yet with a little bit of online research such could be avoided by avoiding Thailand as a tourist destination until the Government makes laws that are A) designed to prevent such and; stringently enforced. Unfortunately the Thai mind set is mai pen rai, the tourists will continue to flock here no matter how bad it gets; murder included.
