Facebook account of NLA member impersonated by anonymous user

BANGKOK, 27 October 2014 (NNT) - A National Legislative Assembly (NLA) member has filed a complaint with the police to press charges against an unknown individual who has been impersonating his personal Facebook account.

NLA member Mr. Amorn Wanichwiwatana, who is also a political science professor at the Chulalongkorn University, reported his case to the Technology Crime Supression Division (TCSD) after an anonymous user created a Facebook profile using his name to post messages that were damaging to his reputation.

The fake Facebook account under his name also made defamatory references to Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha as well as NLA President Thienchai Keeranan and his wife.

Police are now looking to investigate the case and determine the identity of the user. Although the fake account has been closed, the perpetrator will still be charged with defamation.

The message also joked about the prime minister's intelligence and sexual practices.

It was signed "Unlimited Hack".
