Do all Ed visas require extensions every 90 days?

Featured Replies

My Ed visa is expiring soon. I want to renew. I have reported every 90 days, but I never paid for extensions. I assumed when I reported that I was fine and didn't need any extensions. Each time I did my 90 day report, they stamped and let me go. I am hearing on posts that these extensions are required. Am I in trouble when I try to exit the country and apply for new ED visa?

You must of gotten an extension of stay at some time or the other to be able to do the 90 day reports at immigration.

Looking at a post you did you may of gotten a one year extension stamp that is ending soon that was arranged by a friend.

What kind of school are you attending?

I'm not attending. I tried calling the school but they don't answer phone. The name is English Memo Language School in Samut Phrakarn.

Look at your visa, it probably says 1 year multiple. Tan look at the stamp immirgaiton put in your passport, which is the date you must leave Thailand or apply for an extension of stay.

You might have mistaken the 90 day reporting for an extension of stay, not uncommon. Consequence is that you are on overstay and have to pay a fine of 500 baht per day overstay with a maximium of 20,000 baht.

If you are on overstay pay the fine and leave before new overstay rules come into effect.

I also attend a Lanague school but I ALWAYS go by what the immigration stamps in my passport. It states plainly that you are not to overstay the date they stamp. I haven't heard of a ED visa where you DON'T have to extend every 90 days?

I would do what Mario2008 said, leave now before the new ban rule comes into play or else you're not going to be able to get back in.

There are a lot of people that get one year extensions of stay (not visas) for attending school. Mostly for attending a university.

There were some immigration offices that were doing them for language school studies also before the recent change in rules.
