Estate Agent

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me what is the best word for an "Estae Agent" or "Real Estate Agent" in Thai.

Which word for agent best describes it?

ตัวแทน dtua taen

คนกลาง kon glaang

and would this do for real estate?

อสังหาริมทรัพย์ à-săng-hăa-rim-sáp

Or would it be something more simple like:- kăai bâan

Thanks people :o

Thanks lacoste. So the best is:-

naai nâa kăai bâan

Why is naai nâa better than "dtua taen" or "kon glaang" are they different types of middlemen?

:o:D

Agree with Lacoste that 'naai nâa' is the common expression.

'tua thaen' is more like 'representative' and 'khon klaang' is a middleman in general.

"Ones a scum sucking bottom feeder and the others a fish"

Just a little off-topic, but as nuances have not been discussed, beware that in Thailand real estate can go up quickly as more and more people get involved. If you have a friend who connects you to a real estate agent, that person will expect at least a 10% commission. So it is possible to have both a คนกลาง (middleman) and a นายหน้าขายบ้าน (real estate agent) both looking for commissions on the same deal.

I have seen close friends and even family members get invloved and cause the price of a house or apartment to increase for the buyer as a result of all the people demanding a cut of the deal. This is especially true for Farangs and other ex-pats who are not that familiar with the local real estate markets.
