Indian fugitive last entered Thailand on Sept 7, no record of him leaving country
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- IMMIGRATION INVESTIGATION into an Indian fugitive wanted for killing a minister in a car-bomb attack has found that he entered Thailand thrice this year, the last being on September 7, and there is no official record of him leaving Thailand since then.

Interpol has asked Thai authorities to help locate Jagtar Singh Tara, who escaped from a maximum-security prison in India in 2004. It is suspected that the convict may travel to other places in Southeast Asia.

Latest intelligence reports say that he may be headed for Malaysia via Thailand.

Tara's possible presence in the restive South has raised fears, as the region has been facing bomb attacks and violence resulting in deaths and injuries on a daily basis. "The fugitive used a fake name in his passport, which identified him as a Pakistani. In the passport, AK 5728381, he used his own photo. For all those three visits, he entered via Suvarnabhumi Airport," a source said.

He first arrived in Thailand on June 22 and he used a tourist visa to stay until August 28, when he left the country. He returned two days later on a non-immigrant visa and stayed for a week before departing on September 5.

On October 6, the Indian Embassy asked Thai police office to arrest Tara and extradite him.

The fugitive is wanted in his home country on six charges, including murder, illegal possession of weapons, terrorism, perjury as well as raising funds for terrorism.

A Thai court has issued an arrest warrant for the fugitive.

Two points,

A ) is this very wanted individual happily travelling around on a passport in his real name ?

B ) why are immigration adamant he entered LoS yet the PM and the army commander in chief are denying it ?

Thai officials are very good at talking at cross purposes but this is ridiculous and since it's an international situation it just highlights the terrible Thai right hand and left hand stupidity.

fake everything and multiple entry and exit points around the country, not to mention a corrupt

officials, taking into account all the above, how hard would it to vanish in to thin air?

Hub of vanished, criminals!

Odd he entered left for 2 days then left and finally he left on Sept 5th and came back 2 days later.

A photograph would be useful

why are they referencing him along with problems in the South? The problems in the South are a Muslin issue. This terrorist is a Sikh. The Sikh's don't like the Muslims or the HIndu's and don't really have a problem with anyone else as far as I know. Therefore I doubt he would have any involvement with the problems in Thailand's South.

Immigration is police too, nough said... Land of Smile, need to find another noun starting with an 's' closer to the Thai reality...

Because of their pride they cannot imagine the criminals might be more intelligent (less stupid and lazy?) than themselves... Remember the story with the Iranese terrorists! Deep sigh!

"He entered Thailand thrice this year" who wrote this article 'Frankie Howard'?

Snarl? sneer? Sniggering expats? Stupidity?

In another report it claims he was travelling on a Pakistani passport with a false name & potentially trying to cross over to Malaysia, so alerts were sent to Thai security in the deep South region. Speculation, perhaps Pakistani intelligence issued him the passport; my enemies, enemy...
