Extension of 90 day single entry Non O visa.

Featured Replies

Hello to you all,

I will be back in Thailand at the beginning of December and plan to stay for four months with my wife. Would it be possible for me to arrive with a None O , single entry , 90 days visa and then get an extension at the immigration office for the remaining 30 days. I have looked on the forum but the latest posts i could find were from 2009. I telephoned the Consulate in Birmingham but was unable to get a positive answer on the subject. Knowing how things can change , i wonder if someone in the know could give me an up to date answer.

Many thanks in advance to you all .

There have been no changes for your case.

Extension is given for 60 days, fee Bt. 1,900. Need dated and signed copies of wife's ID and house registration. She should be present when you apply during the last 30 days of the 90 allowed.

If you wife is Thai you can get a 60 day extension to visit her. If not there is no extension of a non immigrant visa entry possible.

If he met the criteria, couldn't he do a retirement extension? I once helped someone who came here to be with his dying brother. The brother hung on longer than expected and when we discussed what to do about his visa situation we decided the easiest thing was just to set him up on a retirement extension even though he probably was only going to stay for another 2 - 3 months.

As it turned out, there were complications in selling the brother's property after he died, so it was a good thing that the man was on a retirement extension.

OP only needs 4 months, so it's not necessary for him to get a long extension.

Ubonjoe. I have a single entry non o visa, which i must extend tomorrow.

So the only option avaliable to me at Immigration is an extension of 60 days, based on having a thai child?

Previously on tourist visa I'm sure i could got a 30 day extension, then when that expired,i could go back to Immigration and get a further 60 days.

Though from the advice you give above it appears as though i can only extend a single entry non o visa by 60 days only?

Be grateful if you can confirm.

Only tourist visas and visa exempt entries can be extended by 30 days per entry.

Non-immigrant visas can only be extended for up to 1 year and if you have a Thai wife or child you can extend for 60 days. Otherwise there is only the option of getting 7 days to leave the country.

Price for an extension is the same regardless of how long the extension is for.

Mario 2008 - thanks for your reply. Needed clarification as it depends on what documents I take to the Immigration Office with me.

So say if i put 400k in the thai bank tomorrow, could i then extend by one year (in 60 days time) or would i need to obtain a new single entry non imm visa elsewhere first and then apply for a years extension (once my 90 days is up)?

Yes, than you could extend for 1 year without the need for a new visa from abroad. You could even get a 60 day extension first to give you time enough to season the money if required.
