Padi Scuba Diving - Bali Or Thailand (koh Tao)?

Featured Replies

Lucky me! I'm learning to scuba dive with my girlfriend from Malaysia - but need to decide whether to go for our romantic week (end of August) to Bali or to Thailand. Been recommended to Koh Tao if Thailand but am unsure about the weather.

If Thailand, plan to fly London to BKK, meet her & fly on (Air Asia?) to Surat Thani to get ferry to Tao.

So ....

- which will be best for weather - Bali or Thailand?

- which will be best for learning to dive and then a few days messing around - Bali or Thailand - and if Thailand would it be Koh Tao?

- and recommendations for the links from London to BKK and KL to BKK?

Thanks y'all

No Comparisson Go to Bali. The diving is far better there than in Koh Tao. Having worked on Tao I know where I would go given the choice. There is lots of good diving arond Malaysia as well.If you want to head to Thailand then consider the other coast again much better than Tao. Hope that helped Cheers Dunc

koh tao is best ignored unless your passions are diving mediocre sites and getting "wasted" evry night .............

why try out somewhere like lembeh strait etc? the likes of bastiono's are very inexpensive and the diving is amazing. they also have a resort on bunaken.

or try the andaman. head to phuket ( yes....... i know its the low season ) still decent diving and plenty to do when not diving

Dont know about these 2 sites but im heading to phuket next week. Yea, i know its low season but yet i will go there. wish me luck for a shiny week.

hmmmm hmmmm happy holiday is waiting for me.

u will have a great holiday if u are happy wherever u go.

well it rained all day yesterday here (phuket) lol

r u going to dive when you are here or not?

yep. i plan to dive 1 or 2 days if its possible...

it must be some shiny day over there! give me just one, please....

there was a brief period of sun about an hour ago :D

actually its been pretty good and the days rain was the 1st full day for a while. shouldn't get in the way of diving at all although pretty much all the boats seemed to have stopped their Hin Daeng & Hin MUang runs at the moment :o

oh... NO!!!!!!

i have only a week for my day off. i will ring somebody to take care of this!!!

Is it really impossible to dive around this period of time?

i know its low season but shouldnt be that bad because monsoon is on around late april and october, isnt it?

the divivng is fine at the moment. if you get a bad day it might mena the seas are a little choppy getting to the site and getting back but it is still good diving with loads of boats out every day. Who cares if its raining anyway - you get wet in the water :D

if you are here by the fith you can join in the Thai Visa Official Get Together ( Piss Up)

:o

so true.... haha

i got seasickness on the stormy day but feel bloody good with drift dive when i got in the water...

Sweet for Get Toghther day, but i will be there on 6th in the morning. can u push your meeting, darling?

Ahhh, must dash to get dress for Black Eyed Peas concert now...

xx

The beauty of the daytrip diving now is due to less divers and boat surface traffic as during the high season months....so you will have more chance of seeing more marine life.

Enjoy!

makes a change from looking at the "lesser spotted mares quattro" in high season :o

Bali for sure, but if you end up in Thailand, depending when - Andamans is rather good. :o
