so sticker is valid Jan to Jan i guess?

Actually valid from the date you receive it to March. For example I received mine November 2013 and it can be used up until end of March 2015.

can you drive through the airbase only during day time or is it open 24/7 if you have the sticker?

first and last time i went at night, you get directed on a mazy tour of the camp site with quite a few twists and turns, and you come out at the gate further down.

Really? You received your nominal 2015 pass in November 2014? Or is that when you APPLIED for it? As I recall, the earliest one can pick up a pass is in January. A 2015 pass does last basicallty through March 2016.

Of course, you are privileged CMU faculty with all sorts of secretarial assistants, as you occasionally point out! Not like us commoners! You are an "academic!" wai2.gifblink.png

Today, by the way, the station was busy, but not overly so. MPs looking very smart directing traffic.

Takes all of ten minutes to complete the task.

oh I asked because there is no visible date on mine. So just stick the new one on then (when i get it)\

BTW there is a VIP version (just out of interest) that allows you to go through after 8pm but I have not managed to find out how to get one... it may be just for residents on-base

I went last week; with no patience and it became a bit of a drama for me. I still have a lot to learn about the phrase jai yen yen.

Everyone was queuing outside the door at 11am;sad.png I had all my relevant copies in hand and having been prior instructed by the wife it seemed easy.

Once inside it was clear there were 2 queues; the notices above each counter were different but I cant read Thai and there is no English writing at all there. I asked the guard on the door which line i should join; he just laughed at me as they do; as we do also when we don't understand a word either.

A kind lady next to me, asked to look at my documents then told me to go get "checklist" at the back. off i went out the back to see many people sitting at a table writing away and then taking their papers to 3 officials. I approached the officials and handed my documents and stupidly asked for the checklist.

he pointed and said bandai. great i know that means staircase. back i went inside the building looking for the stairs to the next floor; i found the toilets, the door to a cupboard but there was no staircase.sad.png

at that point I gave up and went home.

Next day I took the wife. wow it was so easy!! smile.png The officials at the back simply give your paperwork a red stamp to say it has been checked for conformity. It wasnt a check list; it was to get the list of copies checked. And then I went back up the 4 steps (bandai!!!) into the main building and joined (for me) the first queue. At the counter it was pay 60bt and i got a slip saying come back in March.

Its a bit of a wait if there are those infront who literally have 20 applications. The young girls sent by Toyota or the bank to get a pass for every employee.

You have to admit, the first time for everything here is pretty stressful when everything is new, you understand nothing and everything takes longer than it would back home.

I've done the waste of a day stuff for a driving licence; Mae Sai border run;a visa for the wife..............am i dreading my first immigration office report;? I sure am.

Better and probably do close soon, there are so many cars there today it is a traffic jam and they are parked for a hundred meters on both sides. Hard to imagine all those people inside that small office.

Last day tomorrow, apparently.

When does this stop being open for applications ??

Can I do it after xmas before new year ??

And to comment on an earlier post, bicycles are not allowed in/through. Big signs at both gates now.

Does anyone know when they stop issuing passes? Is there a deadline?

Does anyone know what time an application can be submitted? Last year, I think the times last year excluded something like Wednesday afternoons which is why I am asking... Thanks.
