teeth coating?

Featured Replies

My teeth tend to get dark relative quick. I have a cleaning at the dentist every 6 month, but in the last month they are visible darker from coffee and tea.

In compare my wife cleans her teeth half as often as I do and smokes, but the teeth is perl white.

Is there any coating that can be put on the teeth, that makes the surface smoother and reduce substances stick to it?

What about whitening? I know porcelain veneers can coat front surfaces of your teeth and make them smooth, glossy and white but you need to sacrifice your tooth structure in the process so not sure if it's worth it.

Buy some activated charcoal powder and brush with it after your normal baking soda or toothpaste

It's not as fast or as bright as an expensive whitening treatment but if your going to continue to drink coffee/tea then practical and keeps the teeth looking non stained.

Health foods stores or pharmacy supply places sell activated charcoal and its very inexpensive

Might help to use an electric toothbrush like Oral B etc to get the full benefits of brushing with charcoal

Yes, for example "Surface Coat" (Kuraray) and Durafinish (Parkell). The coatings aren't permanent and need to be reapplied periodically.

Alternatively, you might consider rinsing your teeth with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (no stronger) daily. That should keep the staining at bay and is a lot cheaper.

Well I do a teeth cleaning every 6 month, after that everything is OK for 3 month and than it starts again......No that porcelain thing is not what I am looking for....have an artificial smile as an American politician.....

I hoped there is something like a transparent "painting" that is smooth and doesn't let anything stick on it. It seems such a thing does not exist.

But that isn't for healthy teeth, or?

They write: "restorations and prosthetic appliances"?

You're right. My mistake.
