TV Production Factory in Prachinburi razed by fire

PRACHINBURI, 7 November 2014 (NNT) - A television assembly plant owned by Thai Habel Industrial Co. Ltd. in Prachinburi province caught fire last night at 10:00 pm. Damage is expected to be around 100 million baht.

Firefighters, municipality officials, and members of the Subdistrict Administration Organization (SAO) quickly rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire. However, the flames spread quickly as the factory contained a lot of flammable objects that were used for assembling TVs.

The factory building collapsed and was completely incinerated. It took the authorities more than 3 hours to successfully put out the fire. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Officials are now trying to determine the exact cause of the fire. Initially, they predicted that the fire may have resulted from a short circuit or a floating lantern that was released nearby the area, as part of the Loy Krathong celebrations.

BANGKOK: -- A television manufacturing and assembly factory and warehouse of the Thai Habel Industrial Co was gutted Thursday night by fire which was suspected caused by falling sky lantern.

The factory is in Kabinburi district of Prachinburi province.

The fire started at about 10.30 pm at the warehouse of the factory where a large stocks of electronic parts and plastic covers used for the assembly of LCD television sets, DVD sets were kept.

More than 10 fire engines were rushed to fight the fire which raged and spread quickly due to the inflammable parts inside.

The fire raged fiercely for three hours before it was kept under control after the factory building collapsed to the ground.

Firemen still have to spray water to prevent spreading to other building in the compound.

Police said there were no workers during the fire.

The fire was first spotted behind the factory building.

Police suspected either electrical short circuit, or falling sky lantern as a cause of fire.

Forensic police were at the factory compound to collect evidence Friday morning to determine the exact cause of fire.

Initial damage from the fire was estimated at about 100 million baht.

Happy Loy Kratong!!wai2.gif

I can recall a similar incident some years back when a certain television manufacturer cut back on bonus payments etc. strangely enough shortly afterwards their factory was burnt down.
