old work permit details usable for eventual new job?

Featured Replies

Good day to you.

I do apologize if below issue is mentioned already in previous postings, however since regulations change suddenly, I just wanted to be sure to have

up to date information.

During the month of May unfortunately I was made redundant because of a bad ( and ongoing) touristic season.

After having made a copy I handed in my work permit as requested by employer, got my 7 days and left Thailand.

Back in Europe I applied for a double entry Tourist Visa and came back to Thailand half June to look for work possibilities and hoping for a better approaching high season.

My question is as follows, in case a new work possibility comes up.

I do have a copy of my previous WP, can I use that (or should I use it) in the application process for eventual new work in a new company, or is the complete previous WP not valid anymore?

I have a double entry TV plus a previous Non-B Visa, which was needed for my previous WP, in my passport and obtained in Vientiane last year December.

Can I still go to Vientiane for a new Non-B as part of a new WP start-up??

Are there recently any new documents required at the Thai Embassy in Laos for obtaining Non-B?

Thanks so far for your points of view and personal experiences in above mentioned situation.

Your old work permit is not valid for anything.

In order to get a new non-b visa you will need documents from your new employer and a letter of approval for a work permit application. http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/vientiane/en/consular/consular_check/
