Hi everyone,

I have a bit of a situation...I think.

Job supplied me with paperwork to obtain a B Visa. Without going into too much detail, the job wasn't going to work out, so I quit. The employer never files for a work permit of extension to stay. I literally quit before it even got that far, so I was told by my new school they can't submit new paperwork until my Visa is finished and the will begin the process for another B visa.

I have been waiting for the visa to expire, realizing this was probably not what I was suppose to do, honestly not thinking about it, waiting to make another B visa run to Laos.

I will be going to Mae Sae north or Chiang Mai to get 30ore days and to void out my current B visa so my current sch

Anyways, the question is, if I haven't received a work permit not was one ever filed, and I didn't go to immigration for an extension, and thinking my school didn't notify anyone of my leaving, am I in for a bad situation at Mae saw border when I go to get a non exempt stamp???

Thanks in advance :)

You have a non-B visa entry that is still valid and can apply for a WP on that with the new school without any problems. No need to wait and get a new non-B visa since you are not on an extension of stay. Nothing needs to be cancelled just apply now for a WP with the new school.

You can only get a work permit or an extension of stay if your with the same company that sponsored the original visa. There company specific. It is possible to transfer a visa to a different company, but its not easy and can only be done in BKK with the cooperation of both employers. Easier to go get a new 90-day visa.

Incorrect. A non-imm 'B' visa is not tied to any particular sponsor company after being issues. Immigration bureau is not even aware of its existence until the person shows up to apply for an extension of stay.

Does my B visa need a stamp of cancellation before I even go to Mae sae? Or can I cross no problem since I never had WP or extension of stay?

You have nothing to cancel. You single entry visa became invalid on the date you entered the country.

You can leave and re-enter the country without a problem. You did not have to wait for your 90 day entry to do it.

But as said you should of been able to apply for a work permit and get an extension without having to get new visa or entry. For some reason people think the visa is tied to the company or school that supplied the documents to get the visa.
